Yes, I would totally ditch the Xbox One controllers and stick with the Xbox 360 controllers to play my Xbox One

Xbox One controller on Surface RT

For the Xbox One controller to work on Windows RT there has to be a driver made for it. At the moment, I don't believe there is so you can't use an Xbox One controller.

As for your Xbox 360 controller, it's wireless. It will remain wireless even if you use the play and charge. Unlike the Xbox One controller, the 360 wireless controller can't be made wired by using a play and charge. If you want to use an Xbox 360 controller
on a Surface RT, it needs to be a wired one.

As both the Xbox 360 and PC are unable to use the controller it sounds like something has worked itself free inside the controller. If that is the case, a new 360 wired controller would be needed.

If possible, borrow one from a friend first and make sure your Xbox 360 can connect with it before you do just so you are certain a new controller will solve your problem.

 

Originally i would have said yes cause i think the 360 controller is awesome and built like a tank, but having used the Xbox one controller for around 4 months find it just so comfortable to use and now it has the 3.5mm jack for headphones makes it a pretty
impressive controller for prolonged use.

However i really, really hate the new clicky d-pad, even the fact i can hear the clicks when gaming, fortunately they improved the shoulder buttons which were appalling on the first iteration and for me i have to use the USB cable as i can't afford the batteries
this thing goes through - Not making the new controller rechargable was a monumental mistake by Microsoft IMO !

The only reason i could think of wanting this option is for having a house full of friends and they could use the 360 controllers to play, but i tend to game alone these days through choice, but to have that option would be nice.

Yes, the 360 controllers are heavier and make it easier for me at least, to hold it like I need to.

It's for that reason that I also want to pick up a chatpad for the X1. If it adds enough weight to the controller, then it'll possibly allow me to keep it from sliding around on my lap. Umm... Maybe, I'll have to test that theory!

Another reason I like the 360 controllers is the thumbsticks on the 360 controller is a bit wobbly which allows my palm to work the R stick better than the X1 controller.

Also the battery pack on the 360 controller will often catch a wrinkle or two in my cloths to help with the sliding problem, while the X1's flat back does not.

No, the 360 controller is one of the reasons I don't like going back to the 360, its stiff, less responsive, less accurate and clumpy for want of a better word.

Xbox one controller is a new BMW M3, and 360 controller is an old Vauhall Cavalier with an old diesel engine.

 

Nope. I like both controllers, but there is something ergonomically about the One controller triggers that I prefer.

 

No, when ever I go back to my 360 I hate going back to the old controller. The new one just feels so much better.

 

While I never owned a 360, but I have held the controller before and it didn't feel comfortable, while the x1 feels way better for me.

 

Even though the new controllers feel a little cheap I would still use them over the 360.

 

Same as BC.Nope,don't want it,don't need it.....There is a cheaper platform for that called Xbox 360.

 

That's a tough one as I like both controllers but since I no longer own a Xbox 360 I'm gonna say the Xbox One controller.

 

A big NO from me. Not that the 360 controller is terrible, but after using the One, that battery lump in the back is obnoxious.
