Would you use cross platform game saves and would in better or worsen your gaming experience?

With the advent of cloud saves there is no real reason IMO to not engage cross platform saves, it would get me and my son to play more not less, eg he plays mainly PC and I play mainly xbox one, but it makes it hard to cross play because although we are
the same points on games if we had to move over to the others platform we would have to work through everything again.

I am not wanting achievements to unlock for cheap gamerscore, and I am not talking about it for mainly campaign games per say, but certainly games like TESO, Destiny, warframe, i think it would certainly be a positive and not a negative (almost an additional
selling point and extra added value again IMO)

What are your opinions?

Cross platform to the 360 would be a nightmare, JTAG'd consoles would destroy the community in short order, Cross platform to the PS4 with dedicated servers would be much better. (And dead easy to do)

No. Cross-platform gaming and voice chat (messaging and party) using the Xbox chat system are not possible. You can send text messages or use Skype cross-platform though.

I wish that the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG video games for the Xbox 360 would allow me to bring my cards to the Xbox One Yu-Gi-Oh! version.

This would definitely be a major plus to playing games, but there had better be an option to opt out of using the Cloud Saves for save files that you want to exist only in your HDD.

Here is an example of what I mean

Let's make believe for a second that Dragon Age Origins allows the users to decide where the save game data will be stored (Cloud or HDD).

(1) I want my 1rst character to be in my HDD only.

(2) This character will have a box checked off where it says " Local HDD Only " every time I save the game.

(3) I then make a 2nd character and I want this to be in the Cloud.

(4) This character will not have the box checked off where is says " Local HDD only ".

I wouldn't mind it being a combination of cloud and local, but thats a lot more work than I was thinking, or if they extend the save functions to be more flexible so you can have more, that way you can have everything on both but not use a few characters
both sides.

Yu Gu OH and other similar games, MTG are also great examples.

 

There is a reason and it comes down to formatting.

A PC save is not the same as an Xbox save. An Xbox 360 save is not the same as an Xbox One save.

Cross platform saves would only work if they were not saved locally.

Save files are created by the developers so I don't think there is a formatting issue, each developer has their own, even if they did produce different one for different platforms which I doubt, I don't think it would be difficult to developer a one size
fits all.

I personally think its the developers business model thinking people want to play the same game over and over, which might be true on some cases, Elder Scrolls maybe, but Elder Scrolls Online it certainly isn't.

I am also meaning playing games at the same time, so more PC to Xbox one and back in the same day, more than bringing game saves back and forth from last and current gen. As I don't see developers going back into old games to make this change.

I wasn't saying that developers should go back and make this change, I was only using the Mass Effect Trilogy as a perfect example for continuing the games progression without having to go through unecessary hoops / stuff to make their past choices count

thats what I thought and thats a difference an more indepth concept, I am simply talking about the same game over multiple platforms.

What your talking about is a far more complex situation as it regards the inner workings of the game being much more work in all departments.

But your post suggests a game save would be one V1, then evolve into V2, thats not simple, as its a storyline and whole game concept issue.

Cloud saves for the same game (the same version of a game) across platforms is much simpler (with the exception of MMO's).

 

TBH Id rather jsut start over, I like a fresh start ,especially when on a new system.
