Would really, really appreciate a warning that the console is about to update

A warning for updates would be nice. Maybe say a popup that gives you a "10 Minutes before your console shuts down for updating!"?

I have one console in Energy Saver and one set to Instant On...The only time I got shut down for a update was with the instant on console.

OP, while I never had it boot me from a live game I too wouldnt mind a heads up.

Only ever been booted out of a game once for an update but having a warning it is a good idea.

@Daft Badger What does that involve? Leaving the console always plugged in at the mains, even at night? If so, not gonna happen. Was in a house fire 30 years ago and since then nothing gets left plugged into the mains other than the fridge freezer at
night.

Thanks for the suggestion anyway, but like i said, just not worth it to me personally due to past events. Games such as Elder Scrolls online and some other online games manage to pre warn you that maintenance is about to take place, so if devs can put something
like that in place, it's not too much to expect MS to at least think about implementing such a warning. Not asking for 30mins notice. One minute would be enough to save and exit.

I guess the OP has never played on an Xbox 360. Xbox 360's UI gives you NO warnings. Updates on it, have been MANDATORY. Xbox 1 now has a Windows 10 UI. Windows 10 for PC's, when there are new updates, it's pretty much mandatory. I know what it feels like.
Updates are annoying and too regular, especially Microsoft products like Xbox and Windows OS which run a vast majority of PC's out there today. I have high speed fibre broadband internet, and when it got to like 82MB left, the rest of the update downloaded
considerably slowly, like 1MB per minute. But when it was 40MB left to download, it speed up super fast the download speed. Software and games need regular updating to fix bugs and security issues and to help bring improvements and fun and what have you.

Updates will get annoying though, on whatever device you have like phones/PC's/Xbox/etc. But hey, it's FREE, I guess that's the good side of it.

This hasn't happened to me since the 360 as the auto-on feature always installs updates while away from the console, I even find that game updates are already done without my knowledge as I went to install State of Decay's new update on the weekend, but
it was already done, haha.
