Would really, really appreciate a warning that the console is about to update

Something that can at times be infuriating is when the console decides an update must be applied right there and then and booting you from a game without warning. Just downloaded last week's update, so it's not as if I've been neglecting the updates. Some
sort of warning that the console is about to receive an update would be nice. Even a 60 second warning would be nice as that's enough time to save.

If it's a random update, it would be nice to have some warning. At least with the major updates we usually know in advance and check to see if we have one in our settings to be applied.

So i got a warning for using the term fanboy\girl. Just curious how many of you have gotten similar warnings? If it truly offensive then mostly everyone s hould have gotten one. And if no warnings were received I see it as a clear cut case of selective
enforcement.

 

Don't think a warning before an update would be forthcoming any time soon, but what you could potientially get is a ban from dropping in a Halo 5 match for example. (Halowaypoint forums)

 

The thing is, I usually check periodically for updates, but not going to be doing it every time I log on. They really need a warning system for small unexpected updates. Just lost around 30mins of FO4 gameplay. Yeah, i should save often and I'd accept
that had the game crashed, internet issue etc. Not just being booted because the console decided I really needed to update right at that moment.

 

I have never had that happen. Since I unplug mine after every use it informs me that an update is needed the next time I turn it on. Never happened mid game.

Having a 24 hour notice before an update kicks in would be nice indeed, here is how the system is going to work.

..........

(1) You log into your Gamer Tag.

(2) A pop up appears with this message

" Console Update: 23 Hours 17 Minutes ".

(3) The timer will continue to count down.

(4) Once the count down reaches the 5 hour mark, hourly pop ups will appear with this message

" Console Update: 05 Hours 00 Minutes ".

...........

Now, let us say that you log into your Gamer Tag when the count down reaches the 15 minute mark, you will be then greeted by this pop up message.

" Games cannot be launched at this time. Console Update: 00 Hours 15 Minutes "

...........

Now, let us say that you are in the middle of a game when the count down reaches the 15 minute mark, you will then get the following pop up message.

" Hurry up! Console Update: 00 Hours 15 Minutes "

Sometimes the updates get launched as an emergency issue. There may be a critical issue that needs addressing. Would you rather wait or get it fixed?

I agree with a warning for standard updates though. A bit of warning would be nice. Mind you, they get sent out in waves so everyones would be different.........

Yup, that's correct. I have nothing better to do than spam this board with countless aliases to get your attention. I just created this hoping you'd pipe up. You're that important to these forums. As always, people like you add nothing but their "it's
never happened to me, so there's no issue" nonsense because, well, like i said, you have nothing of real interest to say. Like most of us are taught from an early age - if you have nothing worthwhile to say ...

 

This hasn't happened to me since the 360 as the auto-on feature always installs updates while away from the console, I even find that game updates are already done without my knowledge as I went to install State of Decay's new update on the weekend, but
it was already done, haha.
