Microsoft Should Consider Getting Out of Gaming

Microsoft has a new CEO. And a new Chairman. The new CEO says the company needs
to focus on core markets. And analysts are making the same cry.

Amidst this organizational change, XBox continues its long history of losing money – as much as $2 billion per year.
And early 2014 results show thatXBox One is selling at only half the rate of Sony’s Playstation 4, with cumulative
XBox One sales at under 70% of PS4, leading Motley Fool to call XBox One a “total failure.”

While calling XBox One a failure may be premature, Microsoft investors have plenty to worry about.

This would be great since most Xboxers come from camp Nintendo although I don't think the Xbox would fit Nintendos culture although we can dream

    :)

Xbox just wouldn't be the same without M. Xbox Live, M has money resources and expertise to provide this enjoyable service millions use around the world. Video gaming is a hobby for many of us and am sure M can draw up at least some profit from Xbox 360
and Xbox 1. And M is a reputable company who I fully trust with my personal info. When I checked last year and in previous years, Facebook didn't have a padlock on IE for it's registration/sign up page and look at the effort which M puts in security xbox.com
has many padlock pages on the address bars to confirm that the page your viewing is encrypted and it's source. If M sold the big Xbox brand, whoever they sold it to would do a dismal job. Sony and M have been bigger than Nintendo when it comes to 7th gen games.
Don't trust any figures unless they are 100% confirmed by M because there are peps who write about anything on the internet.

The two brands aren't compatible, or thats certainly the message that Nintendo gave out when Microsoft brought up the discussion before the release of the og xbox. Although the xbox is intrinsic with a number of services that Nintendo completely fail at.

    Wont happen.

I hope not...Halo would be using some crazy virtual boy controller and you'd have a visual line present at all times to tell you where to go.

Gears of War would be full of Care Bears and you'd shoot the Care Bear Stare as a weapon....and you'd fight the evil Dr Meanypants.

Not sure if I would be happy or sad.

We would finally get to play nintendo games....but we would be stuck with a company who think the wii console is next gen.

There are pros and cons, but I think Microsoft does a very good job as it is.

Anyone quoting motley fool in their post instantly loses all credibility, stop posting this rubbish these guys use old quotes and the ocasional market blips to get thruput into their blogs(using unofficial sales figures from January). It wont be till the
summer that we will have a good idea how next gen are going, and probebly christmas 2014 to really understand which is strongest. I reckon the console with the best exclusives will champion this next few months, microsot sleeping with the (EA) devil doesent
sit well with me tho, i cant stand greedy greedy EA. Ill be playin my Xbox One till christmas then decide weather to ask Santa for xbox stuff or a PS4.

Halo 5: Master Chief and Friends!

Forbes is allowing bloggers to ruin their name. I would ignore op-ed pieces and focus on just the good analysis pieces.

P.S. This is again clickfodder. No one has a complete picture of how either new console is doing. They're using old analysis methods (brick and mortar sales and physical game sales) to gauge success. They're ignoring online retailer and digital game sales.

  14. Personally I can't see it happening.

I actually think it's a shame that Microsoft dominate the PC market so well because they're seriously starting to screw things up. Yeah Windows 7 was great but Windows 8 is just a dreadful expansion and their integration with Surface and Windows Mobile is
a flop because nobody wants to touch them.

It will never happen in a million years but my ideal world would see Apple taking over in the PC market and Microsoft pointing all their focus to Gaming. Unfortunately, Windows is so accessible that Microsoft can do whatever they like and people would still
    buy it in a heartbeat.

  15. When I first started using windows 8 in work I hated it. It was really different and I didn't like it, after time I have grown to love it. I find it really easy to use and think it is very responsive. I think that MS have to much money invested into the
Xbox brand games and companies to sell the division.
