would buying the definitve edtion work for the present

i would like to buy tomb raier but want the upgraded version would that still count and alson none of my progress is showing in the free to play one ive spent alomst 100£

I'm struggling to play it. It's so boring. I'm having way more fun in Ascend, Happy Wars, Dead Island and Rage.
