    WORST SYSTEM EVER


    i am new to the XBOX and this is the worst roll out of a new product to new users i have ever seen.

    the support chat doesn't work, i called the support line, and after waiting 55 minutes, i got a tech who said he was looking for a tool, and promptly hung up on me.

    my issue is that i purchased XBOX LIVE GOLD as a parent on my XBOX ONE, and when my sons, who i have linked to my account as family on the same console, can not access XBOX LIVE.

    any help?

    Well, hello, Rufio! I am so sorry for the delay in seeing this response! You had responded over my weekend, and I apologize for the lateness in getting back to you.

    Generally, if you have an ethernet cord connected from your router to your console, it should solely be wired. You may have to disconnect from the wireless; go into the
    Network Settings and select
    Disconnect wireless to do this. If you don't see this there, then it sounds like the Xbox might be a bit confused, and at this point, I would suggest you

    reset to factory defaults
    on your console. While not the most ideal situation, if your console is giving detailed statistics with a wireless strength, there is definitely something else going on and we need to start your console from scratch to make sure
    it's not a firmware issue. If we can't get it to recognize that ethernet cable for you, it sounds like we may need to set you up for a repair to get that sorted.

    If you are able to disconnect completely, then go ahead and run the Test multiplayer connection on your console. Once that is done (regardless of the results), hit both bumpers and both triggers at the same time (so we're clear, all 4 at
    the same time). This will pull up another form of Detailed network statistics that gives us a couple more bits of information. We can look at your system from there.

    Preamble mode only matters if you are wireless. I'd like to focus on your console being wired if we can, however. If we need to focus on being wireless, you can

    follow the steps here to fix that preamble. Basically, sign in to your router using the log in information that we have listed (most people do not change this; if you have, please use your log in information), click on Advanced Settings and then Advanced
    wireless. Preamble should be listed there for you. Let me know if you do see it there. It may come down to needing to factory reset your router. For that, I suggest referring to your router's manual.

    For energy-saving mode, it does sound like you have yours set to it. To be sure, you can check out our
    power modes article to double check your settings.

    Your friend logging in, sounds like he set it up to be automagical. Your Kinect is likely confusing you with your friend. It happens with my and my sister all the time on my Xbox One; most recently, my best friend came to visit from another state and we
    had to remove her profile to keep it from signing her in all the time if I or my sister was in the room (even if we were already signed in). For that situation, I highly suggest you
    remove your friend's profile so that it will stop signing him in. WORST SYSTEM EVER :)

    I had an x1 since launch and other than some "hard resets" ive not had anything like I read here , well sometimes party chat goes down but just leave and rejoin , no biggie.....ive also had a PS4 since launch and its pretty much the same , hard resets....everything
    online is VERY bland on the PS4 in my opinion , friends , messages , chat , and with no "snap" feature it really feels far , FAR behind.....so we use the X1 for almost everything and just the PS4 for exclusives.....but in my experience the grass aint any greener
    on the other side of the fence ....

    And just waited another half hour and spoke with Alex in Customer Support who was extremely helpful and found a resolution for my "xbox gold share" issue. I had to go into my sons account and add me as their family.

    You need to setup your console as home console

    Once you do you can use family share and add him as a guest account on your family share

    Did you add gold to your main account?

    The Xbox Live service was experiencing technical difficulties since the servers were overwhelmed. They've gotten the problem worked out and you should put a bit of time and effort into the problem before claiming it to be "THE WORST SYSTEM EVER".

    As you staed, you dont know who to blame MS are you, if you have ask that then maybe its you. Ive been on here for a min and ive never seen someone say that as they tried to sign in it signed in a random person thats never been on the console before, maybe
    i misunderstood but if not thats hard to believe. Ive had a few probs but its not as bad as you put it. Like the apps taking a while to launch, which ive leared it needs a hard reset and that reason is why i dont leave it on Instant on mode. Try that, keep
    it on energy save mode, cause with that it boots up fresh and memory freed up each time.

    Just to reiterate a bit - don't confuse the fact that you have a network cable plugged in to mean that you must be operating on the hard-wired network. It is entirely possible for it to connect via the wireless by default, ignoring other options unless you
    specifically tell it to "set up a wired network." Which, as Mrs. Q said, your console clearly is on the wireless, or the Detailed Statistics wouldn't show wireless.

    Just an update, my system has NOT gotten any better. NONE of my friends systems have gotten better. We just dont play as much together anymore out of frustration for losing our progress all too often. I have only listed a fraction of the issues, and a fraction
    of the time i have spent trying to get this *** thing to operate 25% as good as my previous Playstation. (and xbox 360 for that matter). It is still garbage.

    I JUST WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT THE REASON I STOPPED RESPONDING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SYSTEM GETTING ANY BETTER. I am done following a fake trail of possibilities. It is not my job to make my xbox one that i PAYED GOOD MONEY FOR work. I WILL NOT WASTE
    ANOTHER SECOND ON THIS STUPID *** FORUM. Like any other company their job here is to distract you from the real problem and maybe... just maybe they will fix someones system once they get all the bugs fixed with it after COUNTLESS HOURS of YOU WASTING YOUR
    OWN TIME THAT YOU COULD BE SPENDING WITH YOUR KIDS, RELAXING ON THE PATIO, PLAYING A PLAYSTATION, WATCHING A MOVIE, FISHING ETC....

    It is Microsoft's job to put out a console that is ready for the store shelves and not their job to put a bow or ribbon on it then once it gets to your home use YOU (THE PURCHASER) as an UNPAID EMPLOYEE to test the system and work out all the stuff they
    ignored when they should have tested it themselves.

    You can not make a battery change without knowing you will be spending the next 45 minutes trying to get the console to recognize your controller again.

    It logs in random people that haven't been at your house for weeks when you are the only one sitting in the room and you are already logged in

    It doesn't recognize disks 10-15% of the time and you need another hard reset

    You need to ALWAYS REMEMBER to start off with a hard reset otherwise you will waste your time and the screen will freeze or the xbox wont recognize you pushing directions on the keypad

    You can be in the middle of a game and next thing you know you are back at the home screen for that game and you just lost ALL OF YOUR PROGRESS YOU JUST MADE (for me on average it is slightly over an hour .... WASTED!!!)

    You can not play anything with flashplayer

    You need to load titanfall or any other game that is loaded directly onto your xbox in order to make the game with a disk you have downloaded on the xbox and bought new work 8% of the time

    Your party chat doesn't work or your buddy's doesnt work 7% of the time and everyone involved needs to do a hard reset.

    partying issues in multiplayer in general though has gotten significantly better is still around 15% when 3-4 people are trying to play together.

    Console doesn't recognize the same controller you were using 10 minutes ago when you come back after it turns off due to inactivity

    THIS WHOLE CONSOLE IS A JOKE. By myself it is working 8-% of the time, with friends it is near 60% of the time. That does not include all the time you waste or wasted in the meantime when you lose whatever you were doing.

    THREE times in the last few weeks we were making a record on a game we play and three times microsoft *** us up. Once from a controller just losing connection to its own xbox right in the middle of killing 1000's of zombies... immediate death for the rest
    of us, once when a different person had to do a battery change.... it never recognized his controller ever again. Same situation and immediate death for all of us. And the third the game just decided to kick us off (xbox live went down i am assuming). Each
    time we ALL WASTED 1.5 hrs + just between those three times that is 4.5 hours per person, 18 hours total together. And that does not even include all the other mess ups which were a lot more in the same time frame but these three were the most significant
    because we were on a record pace or a record level and Microsoft took care of making sure we didn't go any further.

    I doubt you will read through this and i dont expect that you would. I believe your job is to keep us busy trying things until it frustrates us enough to give up. Its a sad but solid strategy a lot of the big name companies do anymore. Most likely you dont
    even know it. Anyway, i am not logging back in, my issue was not fixed.

    It was not my router, it was not my modem, i was hard wired i dont know why you keep thinking i am using wifi, TRUST ME I WOULD NEVER TRUST MY XBOX to work wirelessly if it can not even come close to holding its own hard wired to my router. I realize i have
    been wasting my time here and still am until i click the "reply" button. It is not my television and it is not my dog, it is not a bad controller, it is not a specific game it is not just my xbox. I could go through this list all over again with 4 different
    names. (aka it is not Jake's router, it is not his modem it is not jakes internet provider etc.......).

    There is one common denominator and i am an electrician and have a pretty good understanding of networks and one of my friends specializes in them and has the same issues. dont feed me *** and have some respect for yourself or your employees and stop ***
    around with our time. Your time is not any more important than mine or anyone else for that matter. The xbox one is a joke, everyone knows it.

    Thank so much, Rufio! That does help paint a picture of your network and what it all could be.

    You have terrific download and wireless strength! Your upload, while it meets minimum requirements, is a bit low for the amount of stuff that the Xbox One needs to do. Additionally, your latency concerns me, too. A good latency is around 50ms; that's the
    highest I would accept. Around 200ms is when the Xbox starts to choke a bit; that's a whole 5th of a second it's taking to respond back and forth to the servers. Yours is 100ms, which is above where I would say it's good, and below where I would definitely
    say it's an internet thing. However, we aren't out of the woods yet.

    While you are on the cusp of having good upload and latency, are we able to go wired and see what detailed network statistics show up as? You had stated before that you were wired, so let's see what those statistics do when we are wired up. :)

    If you would like to stay wireless, I suggest trying out those steps for Preamble mode that I posted on the first page. This way we can rule that out, as well. :3
