Worst console of all time

I honestly never owned a more horribly made price of technology in my life. Mine randomly turns off constantly. Probably from overheating but I always have a fan on my Xbox and it's an open space where it can cool air. I'll be in the middle of playing a
game and then out of nowhere with no warning it just goes out. I've lost more games than I can count because of randomly disconnecting from games because this trash console can't stay running for more than 2 hours at a time. It's so dissabpointing because
I've dumped hours into games and made a tone of progress in them just to loose it all in an instant. I'd hate to start over with a ps4 pro but it's way better than this awfully made console!

I definitely remember it. Though it never made sense to me as to why Activision decided to go through with the firings and legal proceedings without some sort of a plan to keep up with the maintenance of the game. Especially when its regarding a franchise
so highly important to them.

They really shot themselves in the foot with that fiasco.

Instead of raging at the machine, I'd suggest you try checking your power outlets to see whether supply has been interrupted and/or checking the house for RATS - in case one has chewed through your cabling. That's the more likely culprit as no vendor sells
a marketable product that has been BUILT TO FAIL.

 

Which model do you have? Original Xbox 1 or Xbox 1 S? Did you buy brand new from an authorized retailer? Or did you buy used from an unauthorized retailer? There's a big difference between both. The first comes with a 12 month warranty as standard and ensures
you don't buy a dodgy/banned console, even though buying this way is more expensive paying pretty much full RRP Microsoft suggests.

I've had Xbox 1 since launch. I even went to the midnight launch of Xbox 1 since 27 EB Games stores throughout NZ were open for the midnight event. Xbox 1's UI is by far not as user friendly compared to Xbox 360. During the first 12 months Xbox 1 launched,
I heard 12 year olds and teens and adults on Xbox 360 while playing Minecraft and COD who said they hated the UI. Too Windows 8/10 boxy. I don't hate Xbox 1's UI, but I think they should hire back the Xbox 360 Engineers to work on Xbox 1, because a lot of
people have been complaining what Microsoft's April 2017 Update did to the Xbox 1 UI, it took away Snap. The ability to have YouTube or Skype snapped on one corner of the screen while the game you're playing is taking up the bulk of the screen. PC's can multitask
like this.

I'm selling my PS4 Pro. Microsoft will be releasing Xbox Scorpio late this year, in November-ish. It will thrash PS4 Pro, 4GB more GDDR5, faster bandwidth, faster CPU, 4K Blu-ray disc player. This month lots of good sources from Google results (the biggest
search engine in the world) show images of what Xbox Scorpio may look like, about the same size as Xbox 1 S. and shouldn't be bigger than the Xbox 1 original console.

 

My experence has been that glitches like the ones you're experencing, as well as controllers not connecting and apps not loading often follows console updates. Have you recently did a console update? If so, was these problems happening before the update?

I agree too. Microsoft's updates can stuff up hardware and other software programs that you use on a device. Take for instance Hauppauge Capture which is one of the biggest software tools for those who share gameplay videos to YouTube. Hauppauge and Elgato
are at like the top of PVR market which lets you record video gameplay for YouTube. One of Microsoft's Windows 10 big major updates, messed up the software for Hauppauge Capture. Hauppauge doesn't do Updates and Patches as ridiculously as many as Microsoft
does. Microsoft spams us with Updates EVERY month. Overall, if 21st century technology were good enough, it wouldn't need updates. Sadly, it needs updates. Last year, my controller started randomly losing connection to my console. Not a Wi-Fi issue. It's a
software issue. Now what about my Xbox 360 slim console's controller? No issues! Since I got it when I joined Xbox late 2010, the last major UI change Update that Microsoft did for Xbox 360 (which, still currently has more players actively using it than the
12 million or so who play on Xbox 1) was in like 2013 or 2014 ish. Note I've never updated my controller for Xbox 1, since with Xbox 360, there isn't really the necessity of having to update a 'controller'. Also if your in the Xbox 1 Preview Program......
GET OUT OF IT! You wouldn't want to run beta-like not finalized software, on your console. The OS is the key piece of software running your console. If Microsoft stuffs it up, which has happened several times in the past, especially in the Preview Program,
it affects your usage. I've never been in the Preview Program. I've learnt about the hardships of responses of it from other forum posters in the past 2 years.

 

After Microsoft released the April 2017 Update for Xbox One, I couldn't believe my eyes. A LOT of non-regular people posted here complaining about the removed snap. Microsoft ignored us since they did not fix the issue in the released May 2017 Update. I
think I'll go back to Xbox 360 thanks very much. It doesn't help with Xbox One's plight since Xbox 360 still has more players on it currently, than Xbox One has.

The snap feature RIP. It's not just adults who play on Xbox. Minors do too. Being able to have YouTube or Video Skype Console chat on a shrunk but clearly visible smaller screen with gameplay on the main big screen, takes away in a sense, Xbox 1's ability
to MULTITASK. It would be sweet to see your friends reaction on Skype using Kinect, on the lower screen whilst playing Minecraft, without having to look at your phone or laptop! To be able to see their reactions in real time, without referring to another device.

Microsoft's ambition is for Xbox 1 to do more than just gaming. That's why Xbox 1 launched with DDR3 RAM, not GDDR5 RAM. That's why Xbox 1 doesn't have a single-core CPU.

"I play Xbox to play games, not steer at the Dashboard". Surprisingly enough, a lot of kids steer at the Dashboard on Xbox 360. Must because Microsoft hired Xbox 360 pro, engineers, who did a really good job it has avatars, and it's more user friendly. The
Xbox Guide Menu. The Dashboard/UI CAN NOT be avoided on Xbox 1. It is part of the operating system. The operating system is critical as without an OS, you wouldn't be able to play games. And a UI designed by the biggest software company in the world, I'd expect
more from them than this ^

Not saying that Xbox 1 is bad. But since Xbox 1 launched, the console has got A LOT, and I mean a lot, of negative (and positive), feedback. I'd rate Xbox 1 8/10, but for it's UI, 7/10. At Launch, I would have rated Xbox 1's UI 3/10, it was slower than Xbox
360's UI and I even did 2 YouTube videos about it. Yes, Xbox 1's UI has improved since launch, but it still lacks that user friendliness feel which Xbox 360's current UI has. I've even heard a few regulars on here imply it's ugly but they still point out it's
still "functional". But a UI/picture can speak a thousand words. It's like advertising. People will be drawn towards something if it looks nice (not to be confused with hot, or maybe?). I just wished Microsoft kept the Xbox 360 Engineers/UI designers, on board
for Xbox 1. I've been mentioning a lot of constructive or somewhat thereof, but still feedback and input for Xbox 1. Xbox 1 is a big subject. The Xbox 1 forum section on this site is the only forum section on this site that isn't dead.

For me, the UI has primarily been the ONLY thing I've really been critical about, with Xbox 1. I have a high end PC and PS4 Pro. I'm selling my PS4 Pro cause I hardly play on it and got it cause Final Fantasy XV took 10 years to come out and wasn't gonna
wait for Scorpio to come out so was addicted to taste the graphics in Final Fantasy XV. But having experienced that taste, I can simplify my life by selling what I don't need and interested in Scorpio. Yes I'm young. You may have thought why didn't I get PS
instead of Xbox in late 2010. I got Xbox because of the features it has.

Xbox is a great console platform and in my opinion, the BEST in terms of all the social media features, and features, it has to offer. Excuse if this post is long. I like to be creative and express myself in my own way. And that's what Xbox encourages believe
it or not. Xbox has a diverse amount of people. And it may not always be easy to quickly please everyone. For forum regulars on here from last year, you would know before they updated the forums (yes, they updated them), we use to have Forum Levels, and found
out that all (or most) of the cool people, were Level 5. I guess from this post you can tell and can honestly say, I was one of them for quite a while. I seized to be one of them when the abolished Forum Levels.

To the OP, I hope you consider getting Scorpio, it will be a great console, aside from the updates and online drama you may encounter. It will also have better hardware compared to the competition. But I think everyone should consider what makes them happy,
and pursue it. Perhaps give Xbox a chance. Cause I do.

 

MS can't do updates without goofing something up Smiles, its af if they went out and hired graduates that protested their way through college and earned a. "Yes you graduated, now Get out" degree from Universities like UC Berkeley.

trust me I don't have RATS and my outlets are fine. My tv is hooked up to the same outlet as the Xbox and it never randomly shuts down. And after the Xbox shuts down it will start up for half a second and then immediately shut down.

 

I have an original one as well since launch date and I got it from Best Buy and I agree the UI is bad.
