Worst Console (Maybe just COD:AW?) to Date - Change My Mind

i actually agree with geek on this (forum first?) The UI isnt slow at all for me.

as for 1 and 2 - have you updated the controller firmware?

also, 4 never happens for me either

most of these issues sound like they are limited to you or very few others (apart from maybe the cod one which i cant answer because i dont play cod)

 

I have experienced issues 1 and 5 but I have not done a firmware update on my controller lately either. Also I have cats, the controller disappears into the couch, wife and cats knock off to the floor, and my house experiences brown outs and black outs during
the summer. Thanks to all who mentioned doing a controller update.

 

I think there should be a notification for when there is new firmware updates available, controller update are extremely easy to overlook or just completely forget about.

 

Never updated my controller since Launch. Is there a need to?

 

^^ From what I understand it helps with stability and responsiveness. I've only done it once, and keep forgetting to plug it in and check for updates. The one time I did it, it took about 2 minutes.

I don't think the new UI is slow, but it is certainly slower than the 360 with the exception of sending messages. That is about the same once it is open. When you click on something it would be better to just open up instantly instead of showing you large
"settings" or My games and apps" symbols etc.

I haven't had my controller become unresponsive, but it did start to fall apart at the seams and I had to replace it because the thumbstick became really loose.

 

You need to update your controller to use certain headsets if i remember?

When i got my new headset it told me to update my controller.

 

Why change your mind? If you really don't like it there is nothing anyone else can say to make it all better. Each system has it's own flaws. You either learn to live with them / look into a fix / or just complain. (not saying you OP) Best thing I think
to do is figure out what you do like on your own. If it's enough to make you happy then keep it and move on.

 

My number one complaint with the One has been it's slow UI and I've always found it strange that many of us are having drastically different experiences on the same hardware.

For instance if I turn my controller on and hit "x" to bring up the One Guide I'm looking at a spinning circle for 10 to 15 seconds. If I shut it down the guide and immediately bring it back it'll will immediately load but if I go to change channels 30 minutes
later it's back to the spinning circle.

If I hit the Home button to bring up the dashboard my controller will be unresponsive for 5 to 10 seconds on a regular basis but it doesn't always happen.

I've never seen these as controller issues but rather UI issues with the One accessing the Cloud to pull information that's causing the delay which would explain why it doesn't occur if I access things in a short time period (info is cached). But if that's
the case then everyone should be experiencing this.....so is it people have a higher tolerance for spinning circles, unresponsive controllers than I do or some of us have an issue that others don't and if so what's the cause?

 

I've never had an issue with the controller being unresponsive. I'm not sure about the ONE guide as I've completely stopped watching TV well over 5 years ago. UI can definitely be faster but it's not horrific like it was a launch.

 

The UI really only started to slow down once the internal HDD was almost full, I'm also on the preview program so there may be artifacts. It's nothing horrible, in fact it's the same response time on my other overpriced new console starting with an S. At
the end of the day I don't really care that much.

They've all experienced 1 & 2. Some have 5. None have 7 (just me).

I'm not going to lie - I had no idea that was even an option. Just goes to show my ignorance! ) I will do that this weekend. I've had this since Day 1 and could've possibly resolved many of my issues if this fixes it. I'll post an update later. Thank!

 

All good info from everyone. Good to see (I guess) that others have experienced similar issues, while others have not. I'm guessing at this point that the controller firmware (God, I hope) resolves some of the lack of response issues within the UI. I'm beginning
to chalk up some of the other issues to the game itself (Thanks, Activision!).

Why change my mind? Because as I previously stated, I like the MS consoles. Have been a fan of even the "baked potato" controller from the original Xbox. It just feels a bit rushed to me, and that's unfair to those who game. Maybe my "beefs" will be alleviated
with the next COD game in Nov, eh?
