Worrying email about my Xbox One console - is it broken?

I called in and raised hell because of this. They tried to tell me that all xbox users got this email, but out of the three of us in the place that have xbox ones, only I, the one that had a bricked box, got the email. Apparently they sent out a new one
but the order looks goofy. Try calling and raising a fit?

  2. XBox support on Twitter asked me to DM them all the details. Hopefully this means it's being looking into.

Worrying email about my Xbox One console - is it broken?

I got the email and smartglass message. I have spoken to two different support personnel and they both said the same thing. They are not aware of any emails like that, and since my xbox still works properly, to disregard the messages.

The last guy I spoke to said he would keep my case open, in case something happens in the next few days.

  6. Yeah, I got the SmartGlass message as well. I guess that means it's legit? This is really, really crap. First console gets bricked and now I have to send this on in to be "repaired." They better get it back to me for Dragon Age release day or I am going
    to be VERY angry.

Starting to think I should have bought a PS4...

  7. So just rang support again and was told the e-mail and messages were a "check up" e-mail. I said that the wording sounded VERY much like we were being TOLD something was wrong, but the guy I talked to told me to disregard the e-mail and messages. He also
said a lot of people have been calling in about it.

Come on Microsoft, we REALLY need a straight answer on this, it's just ridiculous.

Microsoft really has no way of remotely checking your console to tell you it has a defect. I believe the most recent post was correct, it was likely a poorly-worded follow-up message from Xbox Customer Service, but NOT a phishing email, since it knew specific
details about your last interaction with support.

In short, if your current console is functioning properly, MS 100% won't contact you to tell you to send it back again due to another problem. Just disregard, and game on! Worrying email about my Xbox One console - is it broken? :)

  9. I've heard back from the Twitter people as well. It seems the e-mails were sent out to anyone who had an issue with their console over the last few months, thus we poor saps who got our consoles bricked would get them. So yeah, poorly worded e-mail that
has caused a bit of a storm.

I also got the dreaded your Xbox is broken email from Microsoft. I assume that it is a legacy email regarding the issue earlier in the year that bricked my Xbox. I contacted the support team and then exchanged the Xbox at a local retailer. But I assume that
the support team still have the details of the old Xbox therefore have now sent out this email. As i think the old Xbox still shows it is registered to me.

Like everyone else I will be really annoyed if the replaced Xbox is also broken! I am planning in chatting to the support team tonight to find out what's going on. I will report back here if no one else does before me.

It seems Microsoft are saying that as long as your console seems fine you should ignore the email. This company continues to find more ways to look shoddy. I'm sorry but how badly can you mess up the wording of an e-mail?! They flat out told us our consoles
were broken. They were constructed that bad we thought they were a scam! More terrible support by Microsoft and I've only had an XB1 for two months!

What a mess this is. I wasted a total of 4 hours of my 6 hours off in the evening to deal with this. Anyone that has an order set up for this, it's essentially auto-cancelled. I have several cancelled orders for new xboxes. I'll be glad if nothing is
    actually wrong.

    Hey there everyone,

Thank you for bringing this information to our attention! This email is legitimate, but it may or may not apply to you, depending on if you still have a faulty console. At the end of the email, it should state, "If you've already set up or completed a repair
or exchange, please disregard this message."

We're sorry to see any confusion that this may have caused. With that said, we would suggest hitting up our Contact Us page and giving phone support a call. Those are the best folks to assist
    you further with this. Thanks!

  15. I'm in the same boat as most people here. I was a victim of that lousy update that bricked console drives, had four Xbox Ones replaced, and finally had a positive experience with this fifth one. Now, I'm getting SmartGlass and emails telling me my console
    is broken.

I spent 45 minutes on hold waiting to talk to MS Support. When I finally got ahold of a real live human being (American even!), she was very sweet and pleasant, but clearly had no idea what was going on, and probably knew less about the hardware/software
in this machine than I do. She basically told me she'd put a note on my account that I called, but if it seems to be working I should ignore the alert.

Personally, I cleared all local saved data, did a factory reset, and am reinstalling Advanced Warfare (which identified and downloaded a 249MB patch just fine, unless that patch is included on the disc) and Destiny now. I'm going to ignore the alert until
my system stops working. I understand the complexity of the hardware/software behind these machines, but when your network is pumping out messages to your customers and your service departments don't even know about it, well, that's a massive failure in CRM
    (customer relationship management).

yh i got £13 for it. it literally took me hours to sort out as my console came with a phone contract. so 13quid was kind of a kick in the teeth. the way this email is worded almost makes me believe they think the 13quid covers their latest error too....

I received this e-mail too. I REALLY hope it's not legit as I also had my console bricked by the previous update. I googled the phone number it said to ring and it's apparently the Australian support number (I'm in Aust) .

I bought Forza Horizon 2 on the 28th, installed and updated it with no problem so it seems strange that in 8 or so days the console would break.

I'm currently trying to get into a chat with the support people to see what they can tell me.
