    Worrying email about my Xbox One console - is it broken?


    Hi guys, earlier today I received a suspicious looking email saying my Xbox One console had a problem and wouldn't be able to play new games so I would have to send it in for repair.     be spam because how could they know my console had problems? I only bought this console a couple of months ago and I was one of the unfortunate people who had their consoles bricked by the update that broke the reading of discs. Is this email legit and if
    so how can my console be broken yet again? This is yet more disgraceful customer service. Thanks for any help.

    also 1080p is most PS4 games, why is most XBOX ONE Games 720p... XBOX you need to upgrade and stop worrying about the ALL IN ONE entertainment! This is a gaming console not my air conditioner, or my dish washer or my Fridge... So give me a gaming console

    Hey guys. My xbox one has been active or about a month. However recently ive gone to click on a game and it doesnt launch it or when it does it sits at the title screen forever and doesnt let me progress. THis is worrying as im unsure if its an update thing

    I came here looking for the same answer mate. just had an email myself and dont trust it 100%.... they can send me an xbox before i return mine free of charge but they must take my card details? Ummmmm.....NO! if its genuine im gunna be seriously p'd off.
    i has a brand new console when they released the last p poor update n broke the consoles. had to be replaced then. Downloads are huge for games on this console and soooo slow. why should i be put through that again?

    I thought it looked very suspicious but they knew my gamer tag and the fact that I received a £13 code because of the problems we had with the update that bricked consoles. As you say, if it is true, it's a complete and utter joke.

  6. Hey guys, I would contact support itself. I would not trust this email. Get information from Xbox themselves. If they are requesting any information, DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM.

  7. knowing that stuff about me is what threw me a little too. thats why i came on here. kind of concerning that there are not loads of people jumping on this thread already..... if its a dodgy update EVERYONE should be affected surely?

    Yeah that's what I tought. Searched on Twitter and hardly anybody has mentioned it. It also seemed fishy that they gave me a UK number to call but then mentioned the charge for the advanced exchange in dollars. Was a bit of a giveaway for me.

  9. I received this e-mail too. I REALLY hope it's not legit as I also had my console bricked by the previous update. I googled the phone number it said to ring and it's apparently the Australian support number (I'm in Aust) .

    I bought Forza Horizon 2 on the 28th, installed and updated it with no problem so it seems strange that in 8 or so days the console would break.

    I'm currently trying to get into a chat with the support people to see what they can tell me.

  11. Also, the e-mail mentions the $22AUD I was given as a (pretty lame IMO) apology for the bricking issue. Makes me worry this might be for real.

  12. yh i got £13 for it. it literally took me hours to sort out as my console came with a phone contract. so 13quid was kind of a kick in the teeth. the way this email is worded almost makes me believe they think the 13quid covers their latest error too....

    Ok, so the Chat support isn't working so I ran support directly. They did not have any knowledge of the e-mail, but I read it though for them and the girl I was talking to said it's probably in reference to the bricking issue.

    She said that XBox don't send out e-mails unless customers have previously contacted them about an issue. Because we all had the bricking issue and contacted their support it could be that their automated e-mail system goofed and sent out those e-mails to
    us. The mentioning of the $22 being sent to me in September still has me worried, but until we can get a more accurate response I'd hold off sending your console in. Hopefully things will be OK.

    I've also contacted XBox support via Twitter and Facebook, so hopefully we'll get something back. Anyone know if there is a direct e-mail we can contact?

    Typical Microsoft in not being able to give a straightforward response. I tweeted their help accounts and got a reply saying it was odd and to send them what was said in the email via direct message. I'm still waiting for them to follow me...

  15. I received a reply via Twitter as well asking if the console was working, who the e-mail was from and if I was part of the update preview program (?). I gave them the info as well as a PDF copy of the e-mail I made. Hopefully it'll help.
