Worried about the future of Xbox

Argontheos, the abbreviations for the Xbox One are exactly just that - abbreviations. It's not branding at all. It's just short-hand variations used by the various aspects of the gaming community. For example, XB1 is used largely by supporters of the console
while those who refer to it as the Xbone are the opposite and are likely not to support the console. Sure the Playstation may use PS4 as branding, but Microsoft doesn't do that. If you go up to any self-respecting MS employee that's talking about the console
in any official capacity in the media, they ALWAYS refer to it as the Xbox One - not XBO, XB1, XbOne, Xbone, etc.

 

If people, consumers, critics, or fans can't decide or agree on what to call your product on a medium as powerful as the Internet... your branding is decidedly weak. IMHO

Microsoft need to pick an abbreviation and slap it on game cases, and whack it in videos, and use it in press releases. Once the media start using ONE abbreviation it'll spread and be better for the branding/identity/presence of the One. lol {=D

Disregard Xbone in an official capacity though. It's like Failstation. It'll always be around. lol

 

Bad or controversial news gets hits. I am constantly on the various gaming websites but just don't get caught up in all the sales hype. If I did I'd only have an iPhone, drive a Toyota (or whatever is the biggest selling brand at the moment) and game on
PC since its the superior gaming platform... Instead I'll keep my Xperia Z2, drive my 325 wagon and play my X1 while being completely satisfied

Anyway what I'm getting at is if you really enjoy the X1, play the X1 and not worry about the "Console Wars" which fuel these sales number/res/fps headlines.

X1 is doing fine and will continue to do fine regardless.

 

Just a correction to @ loydy MS didn't send a team to up the res on destiny they got it there themselves, that was for Diablo 3. Any way continue on with this pointless conversation now that some facts have been restored.

I am not worried about the future of Xbox. Some on here may talk about the big stuff like shareholders and stuff. Microsoft knows millions enjoy Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 and play on it. It also has exclusives like Forza, Halo, Zoo Tycoon. Kinect is awesome. Xbox
Live is magic. Even though Xbox 1 has weaker hardware compared to the competition, it's no slouch compared to the Xbox 360. Just look at Forza Horizon 2, yes! you can achieve that level of awesomeness graphics with DDR3. Microsoft also acquired Minecraft too
many of my friends know about this it's good to see them interested in stuff I and others are into. My dealings with Support have being friendly. They do a good job at providing a user friendly, secure and fun service as a hobby. And I'm sure they are getting
some money in return. Some say Xbox 1 can't play games at 1080p or 1080p 60 fps. That's false. Minecraft is 1080p 60 fps on Xbox 1.

Xbox is a great hobby and don't see why they would want to sell Xbox anytime soon when many peps play on Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 and get some fun from it. Microsoft and Sony have always been the top two in 7th gen and 8th gen console gaming when the Wii has
taken 3rd place 7th gen and 8th gen. The Wii also runs on different hardware compared to PS4 and Xbox 1. So what if the competition has a higher TFLOPs rating and more GPU cores. High end gaming PC's are better than the 8th gen consoles anyway. I like to call
Xbox One "Xbox 1". I don't call Xbox 360 "Xbox three sixty". I sometimes call it X1.

 

Lets be honest out the two consoles in the future your more likely to see Sony give up and go under am sure i read some where trying t find it there losing money on there consoles and are losing money else where.where as Microsoft are bringing in the cash
all over.

XB1 selling very well if say it had sold around 1m at this time then yes you could say that's bad.the fact is its close to 6m so why should Microsoft worry lol

Finally To me Destiny looks the same on both consoles pretty much.you may get slightly better games on ps4 but wow is it that serious slightly not exactly mind blowing is it?

Am reading a lot of issues sony have with some online games people complaining all over twitter about psn plus fifa 15 laggy as hell for Ps users not for us guys.

 

Microsoft knows only they are the best peps to have and run Xbox. Yes the Xbox brand is strong enough both Xbox 360 and Xbox 1. It would kind of be a bad business decision to sell something just to keep profits high when Microsoft knows thousands get enjoyment
out of the Xbox 1 and Xbox 360. For many of us it's a like-like hobby. And I'm sure the peps at M would be proud to make us.... happy by continuing to provide this Xbox service many enjoy. They even created an official feedback site too. I'm sure M would like
to keep the Xbox brand as their strategic business goals actually are targeting a consumer population which M knows many peps are into socializing, many peps are into gaming, many peps are into excitement and something which cheers us up after school or work.
Those who think M should sell Xbox are simply put.... cold. M is a respected company too. It shouldn't be just about achieving high profits. That's selfish. The work on providing things which peps need and also.... enjoy. And that's what Xbox 360 and Xbox
1 does.

Well, I will never change from MS to SONY. Live is better, Xbox one OS is better, the joystick is better (even sony's fanboys says that) and the games are the same. And the ps4 is warmer (it's smaller, so it gets hot more easily than X1, that has a BIG COOLER
and more space to breath)

Where do you get your information? Wii was the best selling 7th gen console by quite some margin, and their 8th gen console is sitting a clear 2nd.

Your grasp of physics is a little shakey. An object with a higher ratio of surface area to volume is more efficient at dissipating heat. And both consoles use the same fan.

At least do some research. According to the latest Microsoft 10-k report revenue for the Xbox Brand was 1.7Billion, But their outlay increased aswell to 2.1billion. Meaning a 400 million dollar shortfall.

Where as the Sony Playstation Brand posted a 2.55 billion dollar revenue. a 43 million dollar profit for the quarter. It's the rest of Sony that is the issue. Which is why they are liquidating those sides, and selling them off.

Neither are going anywhere beside. Both consoles are top of the heap when it comes to gaming, and will be around for quite some time.

 

Is this the 1st gen where share price and divisional quarterlies became a gaming topic?
