Wont update because of defective disc drive

Wont update because of defective disc drive...why does this update errors, because of a bad disc reader? Please allow me to install my update on a defective disc reader...

a survey about this question in my e-mail and had to check to see if it was answered. Might as well inform any readers that I got it resolved.

 

Defective Disc Drive

So, the only problem I've had so far with my console is a pretty big one. I put my Battlefield 4 disc into the tray and it accepts it about 95% of the way, starts to spin it a little then this AWFUL clicking starts and nothing happens after. A little portion
of the disc sticks out of the tray while it's trying to spin. I'm going to contact support when I get the chance later tonight. Anyone else having this problem?

 

what error code are you getting ?

 

The error code: xbox 360 needs a drive replacement. However it isnt cheap...but I mainly download games to the hdd. Since the drive damaged...cant update it anymore. Do think Microsoft should let people install the firmware regardless of drive problems like
the PS3. I think they are doing this due to piracy concerns...they think everyone opens their hardware.

 

so u cant get it repaired free though repair website ? i never tired to getting mine repaired with a bad drive, only when i had the old Xbox that easy gets 3 red rings of death and E 47 error and no, because it would be waste of time if it doesn't update
the firmware of Xbox break downs when it totally burned out. and yea because there to many Xbox running piracy games and to many people mod their Xbox..but there is tons of us who don't open their Xbox so they can get it repaired, we all know if you open your
Xbox, Microsoft wont touch it
