    hey guys my xboxone won't read the blue ray discs, I got it when it first came out so I don't have warranty on it, what should I do?

    Yea i have that all installed and everything, i put in Dead Rising and that worked right away, then i put in CoD and it says it couldn't read disk so i cleaned it and it work right away, but it still won't read blu ray movies. It will read DVD movies but
    every time i put in a blu ray movie it says it can't read it and to put in an Xbox one disk, blu ray disk, or DVD disk.

    multi-format drives designed to read both (I have two).



    Beyond the physical inability to read an HD DVD in a Blu-ray drive, there's the issue of software. HDi Interactive Format was the standard used to create HD DVD menus and other content on-disc outside of the actual movie files. Blu-ray uses scripts and Java.
    Unless playback software can understand HDi Interactive Format, HD DVD menus won't work and the disc won't play.



    If it was possible for Blu-ray players to play HD DVD, people wouldn't be holding onto HD DVD drives.

    Will the xbox series s ever be able to run disk games? Like by using an external disk drive or an update to the console?

    technically it could, all it takes is an external drive that can read blue ray discs and then can install and confirm the discs presence for the licence, any external blue ray could be used for this purpose if Microsoft wanted to go this route, they won't as it does not force the mass casual market to digital only, which is hugely profitable and stops people getting around their woke banning structure.

    Same problem here brand new Lego movie Blue Ray won't play in the XboxOne. also Blue rays that played months ago wont play now. i see a quick message that the disc has stopped then is just goes back to the blue ray logo and spinning icon. can still play
    game discs with no problem. need to fix this

    Xbox one will not Recognize DVD or backwards compatible games

    sounds like the red laser diode has failed, this will cause all dvd reading functions to cease, blue ray will work and xbox one games as they are blue ray as the diode will be ok.

    may need to go for repair to get the drive fixed or swapped out.

    I’ve had this happen before....

    under settings go into DVD/BR settings, there will be an option to clear theDVD/BR cache. Yes there is a separate cache. Clear it twice. Now uninstall the BluRay app.

    Perform a hard reset of your console, install the BluRay app & see if it reads the discs.

    I tried this outta the blue & it worked for me, good luck!!
