  1. Won't connect with Ethernet cable

Just hooked up my new Xbox One X and used my existing ethernet cable from my old Xbox One (which worked fine). New console doesn't detect the wired connection and wireless works fine. I prefer wired connection for raiding and multiplayer games.

I bought new cable Cat6 and tried it as well but again, not reading wired connection. Both cables old and new work fine on other Xbox One and laptop so it's not the router port or cables.

How do I tell if it's the ethernet port or some configuration for Xbox One X that is different from old Xbox One?

    Thanks!

    :)

How to Connect Internet Cable directly to Xbox 360

    Hi everybody.

So recently I've been experiencing a lot of lag on CoD, i.e, whenever I join a game I get 2-bar and 3-bar connections. So I decided to search for some solutions. I read somewhere that I can fix this problem by directly connecting my Xbox to the router using an Ethernet cable. Now the problem arises as I do not possess an Ethernet cable.
Currently, I have a cable through which Internet is supplied (It's a Fibrenet connection, which uses Optical Fibres for transmitting the Internet) and this cable is connected to a router which provides me WiFi.
I was wondering if I can connect my Internet Cable directly to the Xbox 360 without Ethernet cables.
(The cable looks exactly like an Ethernet cable so it can fit into the Ethernet jack of the Xbox, so that problem is covered.)

EDIT : I connected the Internet Cable to the Xbox but when I tested connection, It does not connect to Internet. Help

  3. Ethernet Cable

Earlier today i was able to connect to the internet via ethernet cable, but now it won't connect even with a direct connection to the router. WTF. The wireless connects fine.

The ethernet port should automatically detect an internet connection once you plug it in. Sounds like your Xbox might have a defective ethernet port. First thing I'd try is go back to the store and exchange your Xbox One X for another unit.

If it is not possible to exchange, your other option is to send it in to Microsoft for repair. You can register your serial and set up a repair here: https://devicesupport.microsoft.com

  5. Update: Rebooted everything and now Xbox One X reads wired connection but can't connect. Runs me through restarting modem, router and Xbox, then can't determine DHCP. I've confirmed DHCP is on, even set static IP address. Still nothing!

Ready to return via Amazon unless can figure out why it's not working.

    Network/ W!

"My xbox won't connect to my wifi unless i use an ethernet cable"

If you want to use WiFi to connect to your network hardware you must disconnect the ethernet cable from the console. It's one or the other not both.

Wired ethernet is superior to WiFi.

I can’t connect to Xbox live with a wired connection when I previously could

I tested to new cable and it works fine. When i go to choose connection it won't let me select one. It is as if there was no Ethernet cable plugged in at all.

Xbox one seems to think a network cable is connected when one isn't.

I tried resetting the console and now I can't even get past the internet connection page. Even plugging in the ethernet cable it won't connect either.
