    Xboxlive wont connect using HDMI

I recently got a new HD TV so I bought a HDMI cable, set it up and it seemed fine but now when it's connected to the TV using HDMI cable it wont connect to xboxlive. When I swap the cable to a normal non HD VGA cable then it connects to xboxlive fine. Any
    ideas?

    Xbox one optical update?

i have not tried the optical out directly on the xb1... i have run my dolby surround on a (out) for my tv... i guess i should try it off my xb1 and see if i get the update??

it would make no sense to me that it would only work with a headset/astros/tb... to get the update thru a plug in on the controller..

i have used my xb1 hdmi out to my tv and used the coax/aux audio output to my digital bar... games like bf4 have changed compared to convential speaker/tv speakers... but forza5 sounds the same... and really in twitch streams it dosnt have the output/digital feed like it would on personal console/game..

so if it was bundled in with the update i got it.. if i had to connect some other way than i did not or was not prompted to at any point that i connected the soundbar.

    i followed this:

Audio receiver with optical or sound bar

This is a slightly more complicated configuration that may require cables other than HDMI cables. This option provides full surround sound from your television set-top box. It’s best for older A/V receivers that either don’t have an HDMI port or don’t support audio over HDMI.

Connect your set-top box HDMI output to the Xbox One HDMI input.
Connect the Xbox One HDMI output to the HDMI input on your television.
Connect the audio output from the television to the audio input on the sound bar using either HDMI or Optical S/PDIF cables.

unless i am missing something my coax wont plug in to the back of my xb1.. i have to go directly from the tv.

Xbox will not fully turn on

Check the steps in Setup new system solution and Console
    wont power on solution
    support pages.

Step 5: Connect the console to your TV

The Xbox One S console system includes one HDMI cable. You can use this cable to connect the console to an HDMI-compatible TV or HDTV. Here's how:

    1. Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT port on your console (the leftmost HDMI port on the back of your console).
    2. Connect the other end of the cable to the HDMI input on your TV.
Note: If the included HDMI cable isn’t long enough, we recommend finding a n “HDMI Premium Certified Cable” of the appropriate length. If you need a cable that’s 50 feet or longer, you may want an “Active High-Speed HDMI Cable”.

    Xbox One/TV compatability

No it wont. Only TVs with HDMI in. It's a next gen console designed for High Definition TVs, shouldn't be buying one without a HD tv with a HDMI input IMO

    XBOX restarts when channel changed

you could try to plug in the component cables intead of the hdmi cables just to see if the problem is with the hdmi connection. you wont get a decreased quality with using the cable, its just more things to plug in instead of the single easy hdmi cable.
know from what i know component is only a one way connection, so if there is a energy saver on the tv that tells the xbox to turn off, it wont happen, give that a try, it could be the settings on your tvor something.

    xbox one and freeview

The way i understand it is that anything with hdmi out will connect to the hdmi in (including other games consoles) so you can snap whatever is going into the hdmi in with the xbox one dashboard features, gaming twitter facebook iexplorer etc. but the xbox
one in built tv guide and navigation will only be available in North America for their cable providers at launch. But this will not stop us in the UK from connecting our SKY HD Box (other hd tv boxes available), we will only be able to navigate using the hd
tv box remote and tv guides wont be available at first.
