Won't autodetect and keeps auto cycling TV... bad video and audio.

My Xbox One keeps cycling the TV (A Samsung that's about six years old). It worked perfectly when I first bought the Xbox One. After the first firmware update to the Xbox, it had trouble detecting the TV input/settings... and now goes through 10-30 minutes
of cycling the TV. It is maddening as each time it does this it outputs screeching sounds and terrible video (sometimes you can see a bit of an image, sometimes it's just a mess of colors or lines).

It sometimes settles after this auto-cycling... but it it's screeching sounds (like TV at full volume with high pitched fuzzy sound) and the amount of time it takes is unacceptable. I had hoped another update would settle this down but now it's been another
update or two and it is still a problem.

I've tried many setting combinations on the Xbox, my TV, different inputs on the TV, and different HDMI cables.

    Any ideas?

    :)

  2. No audio on live TV - Xfinity PR150BNM

I have no audio when watching TV with the Xfinity PR150BNM cable box connected through the Xbox One.

The video signal works, and all controls (change channel, volume, etc)

I am not using an audio receiver, or any optical audio connections.

    I have tried the following:

    • Disconnecting and reconnecting all equipment
    • Power cycling all equipment
    • Confirmed that, with the cable box connected directly to the TV, audio works.
    • Tried each configuration of audio settings on the cable box (auto, stereo, compression: off/low/high, surround, optimal)
    • Tried each configuration of audio settings on the Xbox One (surround beta on/off, HDMI audio uncompressed, 5.1, 7.1, DTS)
    Thank you.

How To Connect XBOX ONE to component HD TV

What error exactly are you getting when trying to use your converter?

Please check, that your video setting on the TV connection (settings / audio and video settings) is set to "hdmi" and not to "auto", as with the converter in line the one cannot get proper information to use "auto" for setting up the connection to your TV.

  4. Won't autodetect and keeps auto cycling TV... bad video and audio.

Hey there LiveHereNow, have you tried to change the TV connection to HDMI rather than Auto-detect. To do this go to Settings, then select Display and Sound, then select TV connection and change it HDMI.

When you do this, change your TV resolution to 720p or 1080p. After this go back out to your settings page and select Disc & Bluray, click the option for persistent storage and click 'Clear persistent storage'. You will know this has worked when you get
brought back to the previous screen.

After this, clear the system cache by pressing and holding the power button on the console for 6-10 seconds, or until the console turns off. Do a full power-cycle of the console by disconnected all cables from the back of the console, then disconnect the
power-supply from the socket. When the light on the power-supply unit goes from orange to off, leave it for 11 seconds then re-connect the power-supply to the socket, then to the console, re-connect all other cables and power on the console.

This should work, if not just let me know and we can try something else

  5. I have the same issue and tried this... no dice so far, probably will still take the same long, unnerving time as usual. There is another post about intermittent flashing that a lot of people are experiencing- if the last two updates haven't fixed this problem
then I doubt it will be solved. I had run other troubleshooting methods today and got it working ok. I left everything on while I went out for dinner, came back and it was still working. Then after pausing a Netflix show my system tried to go into standby
and the whole irritating process resumed. It's been 2 hours and now even my rebooting steps are not working. So if the next update doesn't solve this I'm going to go with a conventional setup by not passing cable thru Xbox, it sucks that I wont enjoy the touted
"all in one entertainment system," pretty much the only feature that made upgrading from 360 worthwhile. Could Bill Gates come down from his love of curing world hunger for a minute and fix MS and the Xbox pleeeeeeeez? I'm sure someone else can sign the checks

  6. Hey Kanye Midwest, sorry to hear you are also having the problem. I think the issue may be with the refresh rate on the console being different than that on the TV. To see if this is the problem, go to Settings, then Display & Sound and check if the 'Allow
50Hz refresh rate' is selected. If it has a tick in it, un-select it. If it is un-ticked, select it on. If it is greyed out, then ensure the TV settings are able to go to 1080p.

After you either select or un-select it, press and hold the power-button on the console for 6-10 seconds to clear the system cache, remove your HDMI cable from the back of the console, wait 10 seconds and re-connect it.

Hope this helps Won't autodetect and keeps auto cycling TV... bad video and audio. :)

5.1 Surround Sound Doesn't Work Properly on Xbox One

I found another piece of this puzzle. I was unable to get surround (stereo sounded OK). Whenever I tried to set HDMI audio to anything other than stereo, I would get an error saying that surround was not supported. All my other gadgets give surround sound
    with no problem.

What I discovered is a problem with *video* output autodetection. Find that setting, switch from AUTO to MANUAL, and choose HDMI. You will have to set up the resolution of your TV manually, and you will probably have to re-engage 3D support if you have
it. NOW go to the HDMI audio selections and choose 5.1, 7.1, bitstream, etc.
