  1. Wolfenstein: Youngblood (PC) Install in Germany, language settings

I have installed Wolfenstein: Youngblood on PC via the xbox game pass for PC, as looking at the store page it says the game is in English (United States) and German (Germany). This limited list I understand to be due to living in Germany, that microsoft
is only providing the localised censored version, which is fine for me as it still says English is supported and English is my preferred language.

After install, the game launches in German, and I see no option to change to the advertised English (US) langauge.

    I have two questions, which I cannot find the information for myself;

    1. Can Microsoft confirm which version of the game is available in the store

I have had to assume it is the German censored version but can see no clear information. The Store page I see shows the uncensored version in images and video in English. In stark contrast, the Steam store shows clear information
as to which version is being installed (two separate store pages for International and Deutsche version) and in explicit bright orange text at the top of the Deutsche version states "ENGLISH LANGUAGE NOT SUPPORTED". This is above my bare minimum standard of
simply displaying accurate information on the store, I would settle for the store showing me that the game I am downloading only supports German and not showing English on the list if it does not support English. The international version supports far more
than just English, so the lack of French, Italian, Spanish etc. implies I am installing the German version with English language included.

    2. Regardless of which version, the store page I see says English is available, how do I switch to English

Based on the assumption that the store page information may not be false advertising, how can I switch to the advertised English language.

My system language is in English UK and regional settings were "Match windows display language", however I did change various language settings and region format to English (US) following hints in other posts about changing microsoft store game langauges,
but despite doing a full fresh install of the game after making changes it still runs only in German.

I must say I'm just really glad I hadn't actually paid anything for this game due to the seemingly false information on the store page, since after doing my own research it seems the answer could well be be that I cannot choose English, despite this explicitly
being listed on my view of the store page.

I appreciate the localisation issue and that Microsoft may be only allowing the censored version to be installed for people living in Germany, but if this means it is only in German and was accurately reflected in the store, I would have nothing to complain
about. I have already seen other cases with no solution from microsoft of people in Germany having payed money for the game in the microsoft store who cannot play due to the unexpected German language barrier, and it is absolutely unacceptable for a seller
to continue to either mislabel products or continue to provide no information how these people can access the game in the language they expected.

This question will not be resolved until microsoft either updates the store page to accurately reflect the product, or provides information how to access the game in the advertised language.

    :)

Gamepass may well be in beta, I have no issue with which version they choose to or not to make available, but it is quite frankly unacceptable to have a listing in the xbox app showing the game in one form, and listing German and English language options,
and then after purchase (or install via gamepass) turn out that the game does not include one of those options.

There is a button right there for me to pay actual money for this game, which I have already seen other people saying they have done, and were unable to get a refund despite it not including the advertised language they needed. Language is pretty important
for being able to enjoy a game, and if the store information is inaccurate that is basically false advertising. The lack of the other languages that the international version includes (French, Italian, Spanish etc) makes this particularly insidious, as it
implies that this IS the German localised version but WITH English included.

I appreciate that you are aware of the legal situation and stuff, but really this can only be resolved if microsoft either update the store information to be accurate or make English available in the game installed via that store page.

For the first question, the game is censored in Germany due to German laws pertaining to the subject matter and for the second question you should check the settings of the game.

Please consider reading my full question before providing not only basic and dismissive, but factually incorrect replies.

My question clearly refers to both the International and German localised versions, both of which are made available in Germany including clearly labelled on the steam store. Not only am I aware of the previous law you mention where only censored versions
of games were available in Germany, but I am aware of the development that now games may be allowed uncensored, and that in this case Youngblood has both a censored and non-censored version available for purchase in Germans.

Microsoft is not making it clear which version is being offered on their store.

There is no way to change the language in-game or via many workarounds I have researched e.g. changing my system settings, language, locality, etc as required for some microsoft bought games to change language, which leads me to believe it is the German
version with German only language option (as described in Steam) however the store page clearly indicates the game includes English.

As stated, this question really cannot be resolved unless microsoft themself answer and either fix the store page, or provide a way to use English language in the game version being sold to people claiming to include English.

    Hi,

That might have been true, but not any more. In 2018, USK, Germany's rating agency was given leeway by the German Federal government to judge video games that contain Nazi imagery such as swastikas on a case by case basis.

Due to this change in the law, Youngblood has two versions, a censored version and an international version. Both versions are available for sale in Germany.

Remember, Game Pass is still technically in beta and Microsoft may not be making international versions of all the games it offers, especially for PC at the moment.

    Hi,

I feel your pain. Unfortunately there isn't a lot we can do here. This forum, for the most part, is community based and even the few official support representatives that work on here will likely advise you to either call support or contact the game publisher.

You could try and force the international version from
    here
. You would probably have to uninstall your version first though. Can't say it will work as I haven't tried it, I'm British.

My advise would be to see if you can contact the game publisher directly for technical support. You can submit a ticket

    here.

At present if you want to buy the game and be guaranteed the International version, you buy it from

    Steam

I had an issue with the Windows Game pass version of Metro Exodus. It wasn't a language issue, but it was a hardware one. At the time I tried that game (and i doubt it's changed since) the title wouldn't support DirectX 12, therefore no DX12 advanced features
for my RTX 2080 and hence no Ray Tracing. I had to buy the game from the Epic Store to get the full experience.

The Game Pass still needs some work it seems.
