Wolfenstein: The New Order is 1080p, 60fps on Xbox One

Rats. For a while there we were looking like the kings of Multiplayer.

 

Oh yeah Xbox is still the king of multiplayer. No doubt. Always have and always will be.

 

I knew that a positive resolution light on the x1 would strike another graphics debate. Please note I only own the Xbox 1 version of Cod in what I'm about to disclose. The rest of the games Tomb Raider and thief belong to my friend and I just used them for
testing.

I wanted to point a few of my findings out to you guys after numerous tests and actually doing some fraps work on the ps4 and x1.

-The new Tomb Raider runs at 1080p on both consoles with some cut scenes going back to 900p for the X1.

The frame rate is locked at 30fps on the x1 and unlocked~60fps on the PS4.

Average framerate for that game in my findings for the PS4 is 48 - (4 hours of play) and the average X1 framerate is 30. Is an average of 18 frames more worth arguing over? Instead of being twice the power of the x1 in those terms it's more like 25-30% advantage.
On the PS4 I even dipped sub 30 FPS on occasion. I think I would prefer a more solid "stable" framerate.

-COD Ghosts 720P X1 1080p on the PS4

Up until recently (patch woes) I was getting a better more consistent FPS on the Xbox version Averaging around 52 - On the PS4 version of the game @ 1080p I average the same, but I get dips in the 30s range from to time and it can get you killed especially
in multiplayer.

-Thief

I took the plunge and bought the game I had second thoughts about and let me tell you it's just not optimized for either system. I will say at the lower resolution the Xbox version maintains itself better and the ps4 version teeters on unplayable especially
in cut scenes. Overall the graphics are more crisp and look better on the ps4 version.

I wanted to post my findings because I spend a fair deal of time complaining about the xbox hardware. I now find myself questioning developers because I realize they are pushing for that 1080p on the ps4, but why not lower the resolution for more playable
frame-rates. For instance they could have went 900p for thief and probably smoke the xbox version instead they insist on this higher resolution resulting in poor gameplay - the same could be said for cod ghosts and many of the other 1080p titles.

So I am more for playable framerates now than resolution. As long as the textures don't look last-gen and can somewhat keep up with our big brother PCs I think I'm ok with the 720-900p thing on the Xbox. It seems that Microsoft's hardware may be a tad weaker,
but they are more focused on how playable a game is where as Sony is really trying to go for numbers and the gameplay experience suffers.

This may have been a bit off topic but I wanted to share this in a somewhat relative thread. I'm also glad that a game is being released in which both systems are performing equally. I might actually pick this up, but I'm a little burnt out on shooters at
the moment; my next shooter will most definitely be Titanfall and after that I'll be ok for a while heh.

Digital foundry Still hasn't put up a Thief Comparison of PS4 and X1 yet they have been quick when the difference is in PS4 favor. Ive been called many things for suggesting that they show Sony Bias in their comparisons but i think this proves the case as
to their agenda.

 

If more Xbox One games run at 1080p, I hope you guys are ready to argue over which version has the prettiest tree.

1080 and 60fps. Big deal... I bet the graphics suck . I'd rather have great visuals and 480.

But how can that be? I thought the XO can only do 720p, at 30 fps.

...and needed saving.

 

I know right,inferior hardware and all that. Maybe there is more to the design than a slightly weaker GPU and the esram is actually fast and useful

 

Wasn't to sure about this game. Then I watched the trailer....it has me interested.

 

I'm just happy there's a thread on this game, I'm getting Wolfenstein, always was, 1080 @ 60 ? Bonus.

 

Watched the trailer again, love it!
