Okay, so over the past year I've collected almost 40 games for the Xbox One. Late last night, while troubleshooting network issues with my ISP's tech support, I was asked to shut off and disconnect all of my network devices except for the one I was using
to talk to support. When I went to the Xbox One, I simply pulled the plug since it was faster than having to turn the console on and then hold the button down for 10 seconds.

Fast forward to today - I tried to take another stab at Völgarr the Viking again and the console instead asked me if I wanted to install it. I found this odd because it was already supposed to be installed. I went to go see if it was in the My Games and
Apps section and discovered to my horror that the Xbox One now only believes that 6 of my nearly 40 games is still installed; the rest are in the Ready to Install section. Add to that the fact that the console no longer seems to recognize any difference between
the external and internal HDD that I have because it makes no mention of either in the My Games and Apps section. Woe is me! :(

I've already done a proper hard reset to see if it would resolve the issue; it didn't. Not only am I incredibly upset at the prospect of having to reinstall most of my games, which are rather large in file size with my slow 6mbps download speed, but I'm absolutely
confused at what may have caused this. Could it have something to do with when I pulled the plug last night like I mentioned above, the fact that I'm in the update preview program, the fact that it won't recognize the difference between my 2 HDDs, or something
else entirely? Either way, I find this absolutely disconcerting.

I will be posting this to both Xbox Live support and on the Update Preview forums for any help and assistance to figure out what may have caused this issue. I'm posting it here for 2 reasons: (1) for your input and (2) to figure out if anything like this
    has happened to anybody else.

So, any ideas or input on what may have caused this issue?

    :)

Oh... Never mind, I figured it out. Woe is me! :)

It had to do with the external HDD; apparently when I pulled the plug last night, it didn't recover, so when I looked at the games a 2nd time I realized that it was only showing the games that were still on the internal HDD (my brother's games). So, I unplugged
the external HDD and plugged it back in and all 40 or so games came back instantly.

So, if something like this ever happens to anyone else, you can use this as an example of how to fix the issue. Woe is me! ;)

I'd still avoid pulling the plug from the wall in the future, to shave a hefty 9 whole seconds of shutdown time. Woe is me! ;)

Have you tried or do you know if the external is plugged into a PC can Windows read the files?

That would allow people the ability to do a second back-up in case of a data lose on their desktop/laptop.

I would assume you can't but now I'm curious.

I haven't personally tried it Randver so I don't know. I would assume though that since it's formatted for the console the answer would be no. Besides, didn't you say you had the exact same external as I did? There's nothing stopping you from trying it out.

Mine is full of old tax returns and financial documents so I'm not risking plugging it into the One and losing that data.....then you'd really see a Woe is me post.

I'll head to the super geek forums and ask....someone will know.

I noticed that Forza 5 will install fully and the a few days later it is re-installing again from scratch. It's not a big deal, but it's odd.

    @Brandie

I was having that issue or it would Q to install and just hang. I finally deleted everything Forza 5 related with the exception of saves and re-installed. Hasn't happened since then. I assume something in the first install was corrupted and caused the never
    ending install loop.

Geek same thing happened to me the other day. Glad you did not have to re install all that stuff though. That would have not been fun.
