    I don't know if the scope of this problem is wider. I did discuss it with support chat and let them know that I found a problem and found a workaround.

    The problem is that the downloaded Gears of War 3 for Xbox One backwards compatibility seems to "lock in" your gamertag when installed. I know this because after playing the game under one gamertag, I purchased a name change, then the game stopped logging
    in to Xbox Live to access my settings or the ability to save. You would think that backwards compatibility would take into account synching your Xbox 360 gamertag, but this wasn't the case.

    There is a workaround: Once the game has loaded and is at the start screen. Press the Menu and View buttons (two black buttons under the lit Xbox button) simultaneously to bring up the Xbox 360 system menu in the emulator. It will show your old gamertag
    and that you're not signed-in. So go to the option to re-download your profile. Enter your logon credentials, wait for the download to complete, then make sure that you're signed in to Xbox Live. Exit this system menu. That's all there is to it. From this
    point forward your logon should be correct, at least for this game.

    I recently changed my gamertag on xbox one and made a longer password now when I go to play a 360 backwards compatible game on xbox one it says I have to re download profile so my gamertag will change but my password for live is too long on 360

    Good evening, how are you?

    This could mean that there is an issue with the Xbox Live service or an Xbox Live account authentication failure.

    Solution 1. Check your Xbox status. If you see alerts, wait until the service is up and running and then try again.

    Solution 2. Note Any avatar change will do because the change causes the service to sync your account with your profile.
    Launch the Xbox Avatar Editor app.

    Enter and change your avatar.
    Select Save.
    Try signing in to your Xbox 360 console, or try playing your Xbox 360 backward-compatible title again.

    Did you go through the process of changing your gamertag? If so then the change is reflected across the whole system but may take a little time to show up on your account. Try deleting your gamertag then redownload it to see if it shows up for you.

    Also, please remember that if you are on the Xbox One you will need to delete then redownload your gamertag from the backwards compatible menu in order to play backwards compatible games. You can follow the instructions in this video to do that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pl551gGi7Pk

    Your Xbox Live gold membership, gamertag, achievements and entertainment purchases (movies and music) will carry over to your Xbox One, purchases in the XBLA will not carry over because the Xbox One is not backwards compatible.
