Yes you can. If you have 12 months or less left of Ultimate, you can add the 24 months and it will stack with what you have left.

If you have more than 12 months, you'll want to redeem it on another account or wait until you have at least 12 months before redeeming it. You can only stack up to 36 months at a time.

You can add the 24 months of Ultimate to your existing subscription as long as it won't go over 36 months. If it were to go over the 36 months, you would need to wait until you have 12 months or less remaining on your subscription before redeeming the 24

The code does not expire. You can add the 24 months of Ultimate to your existing subscription as long as it won't go over 36 months. If it were to go over the 36 months, you would need to wait until you have 12 months or less remaining on your subscription before redeeming the 24 months of Ultimate.

Game Pass is a subscription (Xbox Live Gold is a subscription as well).

Once any of those subscriptions end you can no longer play any game that you don't outright own but had a license to use while a subscription was active.

Your best deal in any case is IMHO using Game Pass Ultimate because it combines the features of the standard Game Pass AND Xbox Live Gold PLUS. It allows you as an added bonus access to EA games (through EA play) and to play Game Pass games that are available for a PC.

You can convert an existing Gold subscription into a Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
