Witcher 2 won't play on XBOX One X

Hi, I successfully installed the Witcher 2 on my XBOX One X but I get an error message saying it isn't playable yet and I should either restart my console or wait till it's release date (even though it's been out from seven years) and I was wondering how
I could resolve this issue. I have power cycled my console, reinstalled after resetting my modem, and so on. How can I fix this?

P.S. All my other 360 games install and work fine on there the Witcher is the only one with problems.

I had the same problem. Another thread in the forum gave the answer. Look for two files of the game on your system. One is 7.8 gigs and the other is 7.7 gigs. The one that's 7.7 is the one that will play. I had both in my games list. I uninstalled the 7.8
file and went back to the list. Both were gone. I went to the store to find the game and it said it was already installed on my system. I started it and it worked fine.

As of today, I am experiencing the exact same problem. My Xbox One X will not play The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings. After a hard power cycle and a soft reset, the console still won't load the game. The same game and save file worked fine, on the
exact same console 11 months ago, so I assume it's an update issue.

It's very possible there could be an emerging issue with the playability of this specific backwards compatible game if it is giving you that error message even after the troubleshooting you have attempted. Besides that, it also seems to be the only backwards
compatible game not working on your Xbox.

Do you have a digital copy or physical copy?

If you haven't done so, perform a complete power cycle using the following steps.
While the Xbox is on, go ahead and do a
hard restart and power cycle to the console.
Hold down the power button on the console for about 10 seconds or until it shuts down and then remove the power cable from the Xbox and the power outlet for about 5 minutes. Then re-connect and wait 60 seconds before turning on the Xbox. Holding down the power
button on the console to force a shutdown is an important step.

If that doesn't help then you will need to try out a
soft factory reset.

1. Press the Xbox button on the controller to open the guide.
2. Scroll to the right and select System > Settings > System > Console info.
   
3. Select Reset console.

Make sure to select "Keep my games & apps" and have the correct account login information plus your Wi-Fi password ready if you connect wireless because you will need to re-add the accounts that were on the Xbox and re-connect to your network during the
reset.

I almost gave up on this game! But this helped and was the answer. Except I went to the store and it wanted me to reinstall the 7.8 file so just went to my downloaded games and the 7.7 file was there and worked just took a minute for it to load.
