Wireless Xbox controller for Xbox One and PC suddenly won't connect via Bluetooth anymore.

Came home from work and turned my PC on to play a game and noticed my controller wasn't connecting. When I went to Bluetooth settings to check, it said Bluetooth was off and didn't give me any options to turn it back on. Here are the steps I've already taken:

-Checked device manager and the Bluetooth section was just completely absent.

-Restarted my computer and the drivers reappeared, which I updated.

-Installed the most recent Windows Update.

-Removed the controller from paired devices.

-Upon attempting to re-pair the controller, it simply shows up as "Input" and either times out or states "We didn't get any response from the device".

-Plugged the controller in directly with a micro-USB and it functions normally. Accessories App says the device is up-to-date.

-Tried to pair a different Xbox controller (same model) and also a Bluetooth speaker. Recognized as "Input" and "Bluetooth Headset" but still failed.

-Rolled back Bluetooth Drivers. Same result as before.

    -Completely uninstalled Bluetooth drivers.

-Manually downloaded and installed the latest Bluetooth drivers from my motherboard's website. ASUS ROG Strix Z270E Gaming. Same result as before.

-Tried to pair device through Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Devices and Printers>Add a Device. It always says it didn't work and to try again.

-Ran the troubleshooter for Bluetooth and it couldn't find a problem.

The batteries in all Bluetooth devices are 100% and the devices can successfully pair with things other than my PC. Everything was working fine the night before and I haven't made any changes since then, I just put my computer to sleep before bed and woke
it back up after work today. It is hooked up to a UPS with a backup battery so it is well protected. No idea where to go from here.

***Moved from: Windows 10 / devices & drivers***

My controller keeps disconnecting mid game

Is this an Xbox One controller, or an Xbox 360 controller? If it's an Xbox One controller, are you connecting wirelessly to the PC via Bluetooth, or with the Xbox Wireless Adapter?

Adapter Xbox 360 for PC and new controller.

    Hi,

    I’m Killing Skids

The Answer Is Yes as Long As it has Bluetooth or wireless connection
    Hi,

That's not quite right. Apologies for quoting you.

The Xbox 360 controller uses a proprietary wireless technology, it's not Bluetooth and the old adaptors won't work with a modern controller like the Xbox One or Series X|S controllers.

Unlike Xbox 360 wireless controllers, Xbox One and Series controllers can also be connected via USB cable. Old Xbox One controllers use Micro USB, Series Controllers are USB C.

To use an Xbox One/ Series controller via wireless on a PC and get basic functionality, all you need to do is connect the controller via Bluetooth. If your PC doesn't have Bluetooth then you'll need to buy a Bluetooth USB dongle, they're very cheap, less than $10. I'm from the UK and I connect my Series X controller to my PC via BT dongle I purchased from Amazon for about £5.

For extra wireless features you'll need the Xbox One Wireless Adaptor for Windows 10. Unfortunately, the official Microsoft branded adaptors are now quite rare.

not able to use headphones through 3.5 mm jack connected to xbox one controller when the controller is connected to pc via bluetooth

Is it possible to use the headphones via 3.5 mm jack connected to XBOX controller when the controller is connected to PC via bluetooth?
    Hi,

I'm afraid not, it's a limitation of using Bluetooth to connect the controller to a PC:

    Take from the
    official support link

    Things to keep in mind:

    ·
For best performance, update your controller.

    ·
Bluetooth is supported on PCs, tablets, and laptops. It is not supported on mobile devices.

    ·
Bluetooth doesn’t support attachments such as headsets, chatpads or the Xbox Stereo Adapter.

    ·
We recommend connecting only one controller at a time using Bluetooth.

Elite Series 2 controller not connecting to Xbox Accessories store app on Windows 10 PC!

    Yes,

Under Human Interface Devices, as Xbox One Wireless Controller. This is when connected with the Microsoft wireless USB dongle.

I’ve also seen the controller under game controllers when initially connected via Bluetooth. But I abandoned using it via Bluetooth with my windows 10 pc. Only wireless adapter now.
