Wireless xbox 360 controller (PC, Windows 10) randomly disconnects once or twice a day

Hello everyone. I'm using the wireless controller for the PC. I love the xbox360 controller ,imo it's as good as the PS3 controller.

But unfortunately I am having an issue with it.

Sometimes it will start to have rotating lights on it, and it will stay like that for about 30" or so. When I am playing FFXIV as a tank, it's quite annoying since I can't do anything and end up getting damage.

I am sitting right next to the computer and the wireless receiver too, so it's not a distance issue. Now the receiver is under the desk, but still, it's a wooden desk. Plus it's never done this before.. The lights go round and round. Then after a while they
stop rotating. You think I should reinstall the drivers?

I wish there was a chart with what the lights mean, all the forum posts that have to do with that are from 2007 or something, and they are more funny than useful.

Xbox One controller keeps disconnecting

Hi,

When I connect my Xbox One Wireless Controller to my Windows 10 PC via Bluetooth it will work then randomly disconnect. Windows 10 says that it is still connected even though it isn't since the Xbox button on the controller is flashing. Any suggestions? Thanks

XBox 360 Wireless PC Controller disconnects after 10 minutes of play.

Tried the following:

Different USB ports

Changed batteries.

Different PCs

Different Operating Systems - Windows 8.1, Windows 10

Nothing helps

Although I bought the controller around 2+ years ago, I used it maybe 10 times.

Is it possible to have it replaced?

I found the solution. It was the fact that the receiver was under the desk. The computer case is metallic, and also has a little wifi antenna next to it, so all those combined made the signal a bit weak at times.

I moved the receiver on the surface of my desk and it's working fine.

If it's happening on different PC's then it would more than likely mean that either the adapter or the controller are the problem.

Would you please try having your PC forget the controller and disconnect. If it still continues to disconnect, try uninstalling and reinstalling the controller drivers by following our Wireless Controller Setup.

The Xbox One Wireless controller with Bluetooth can be connected to a Windows 10 PC with a USB cable, Bluetooth, or with the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10, so yes, it can be connected via the adapter. The Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 is not
compatible with an Xbox 360 controller and will need the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows. I'll provide the support articles with this information:

your pc shoul be able to read the controller, i don't know for sure on windows 10, but back in the day when i had windows 8 i played a lo of games on it using a 360 controller and an adapter to use it wireless

Depending on which version of Windows you use depends on which drivers you need.

Windows 8/10 Drivers are automatically installed when you plug the Xbox 360 wired controller into your PC.

If you are trying to hook up a wireless controller, then you need a Xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver for windows

If you are trying to connect the Xbox 360 controller to the PC with a play & charge kit, then that will not work, as the cable will only work on the PC to charge the controller's play & charge battery.
