  1. Wireless XBox 360 Controller for Windows turns off when I squeeze Guide button and the battery ...

I have Windows 10 and two Wireless XBox 360 Controllers for Windows. When I
squeeze the Guide button and the battery pack
while the controller is on, it turns off - both of the controllers I own do. A detailed description with images may be found
here. They do not turn off if only the Guide button is held.

Is this a feature of the Wireless XBox 360 Controller for Windows? If so, where is it documented? I've had these controllers for years and was unaware that a controller may be powered off this way. I'm not the only one. There are even several
3rd party software solutions out there in the wild that provide functionality to turn off this device, since it is seemingly absent.

I have not installed any such specialized software. I do however have Steam, Uplay, Nvidia Experience, etc. installed as a typical gaming rig would have.

    :)

    Xbox One Wireless Controller Batterystatus

Well, the Xbox 360 use to show battery status when you pressed the guide button, so the most logical place to implement it, would be within the Game Bar, that's used now when you press the Guide button on the XBox One Controller.

Any indicator would at least warn you, currently if your battery is low the controller just Shuts off, no warning.

It blows my mind that wireless controller for windows is such an after thought, they would overlook something like Battery Status.

Before updating to Windows 10, my computer was on Windows 7 and I was able to check the battery status of my xbox 360 wireless controller by touching the guide button, but it does not work in windows 10. ¿There is any way to check de battery status
of the xbox 360 controller on windows 10?

    Controller won't sync to console.

    reconnect a wireless controller

    Turn on your console.

Press and hold the Guide button on the controller until the controller turns on.

    3. Press and release the connect button on the console.

Xbox 360 S console Original Xbox 360 console

    4. Within 20 seconds, press and release the connect button on the controller.

    5. When the lights surrounding the power button on the console stop flashing, the controller is connected.

Each connected controller is assigned to one of four positions. Each position corresponds to a lighted section around the console power button and the controller Guide button.

If the controller does not turn on, check the batteries. Insert fresh AA batteries, making sure they are correctly positioned in the battery case.

To connect additional controllers, follow these same steps again. You can connect up to four controllers to the console. Each connected controller is assigned a position that corresponds with the lighted sections that appear around the console’s power button
and around the Guide button located in the middle of each controller.

To disconnect a wireless controller, press and hold the Guide button for three seconds, and then choose to turn the controller off.

When you turn off the console, the controller will reconnect the next time you turn on the console.

The controller can be connected to only one console at a time. You can connect the controller to a different console, but the connection to the previously connected console will be lost.

If that does not work try this:

The Xbox 360 Wireless Controller batteries are weak or the Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack needs recharging.

Another wireless device, such as a microwave oven, a cordless phone or a wireless router, is causing interference.

Metallic objects positioned between the console and the wireless controllers are causing interference. These include a chrome faceplate or metal dividers, shelves or doors on an entertainment centre cabinet.

Note All licensed Xbox 360 console faceplates are tested for interference and do not interfere with licensed wireless devices.

Four controllers are already connected to the console.

    Solution 1: Restart your console

Turn your console off, wait a minute, and then turn it on again.

Solution 2: Replace the batteries or recharge the battery pack

    Do one of the following:

If you do not have a rechargeable battery pack, insert fresh AA batteries.

If you have an Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack:

Remove the battery pack, and reattach it to your controller, making sure that it is attached correctly.

On the controller, press and hold the Guide button. In the upper-left area of the Guide button, the battery meter indicates your current level of battery strength.

If the level is low, recharge the battery pack.

If you have an Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit:

Make sure that the battery pack is correctly connected to your controller and plugged into one of the console's USB ports. If you check both of those things but are still having the problem, try step 2.

Check the USB ports on the console:

Plug the charge cable into each USB port on your console, one by one. There are two USB ports on the front of the console and one on the back.

If the controller works in one USB port but not another, try another accessory in the USB port that did not work with the controller.

If the USB port does not work with any accessory, your Xbox 360 console might need to be repaired. Contact Xbox Support for help. See the Assistance section at the bottom of this page for more information.

If the USB ports work but you are still having connection problems, try step 3.

Turn off vibration feedback (rumbling) on the controller. If you play games with feedback while charging, it takes longer for the controller to charge and might drain the battery pack faster than it can recharge. Here’s how to turn vibration off:

Press the Guide button on your controller, then go to Settings.

    Select Preferences.

    Select Vibration.

Select Enable Vibration to clear the checkbox.

Solution 3: Remove objects between the controller and the console

The controller works within 10 metres (33 feet) of your console. However, objects placed between the controller and the console might reduce this range. In addition, objects that use wireless technology (for example, a cordless phone) can interfere with
your wireless controller. Remove or relocate objects or wireless devices that might interfere with the wireless controller or console. Here are some things that can cause problems:

    Microwave ovens

    Cordless phones

    Wireless routers

    Chrome faceplates

    Metal dividers

    Shelves

Doors on an entertainment centre cabinet

Note All licensed Xbox 360 console faceplates are tested for interference and do not interfere with licensed wireless devices.

Solution 4: Disconnect all controllers and headsets

If all four lights surrounding the power button on the console are green and the controller has four flashing green lights, four controllers might already be connected to the console. Disconnect all of the controllers, and then try to connect the controller
    with the problem.

To disconnect a wireless controller, press and hold the Guide button for three seconds, and then turn the controller off.

To disconnect a wireless headset, turn the headset off.

To disconnect a wired controller or headset, unplug its cable from the console.

    Hope this helped

how do you turn on xbox 360 wireless controller

    Hi,

Powering on Xbox 360 controllers is the same as powering on a Xbox One controller - press the guide button until it flashes green. The guide button is silver on Xbox 360 controllers and white on Xbox One/Series X|S controllers.

Support guides for Xbox 360 controllers can all be found on the Xbox Support website (https://support.xbox.com) simply by typing ‘Xbox 360 controller’ into the search box. I’ve added them here though, to refer to.

How to turn on/off your Xbox 360 console and wireless controller

    And for wired controllers:

Connect a controller to your Xbox 360

    More Xbox 360 controller guides:

Set up an Xbox 360 Controller for Windows

Xbox 360 Wireless Controller disconnects or can’t connect

How to replace the batteries in your Xbox 360 Wireless Controller

For help with a Xbox One/Series X|S controller (I understand you’re enquiring about Xbox 360, but I’ve also included the guides for Xbox One in case needed, and to help others):

Connect an Xbox Wireless Controller to your console

Get to know your Xbox One Wireless Controller

    Troubleshoot your Xbox Wireless Controller

    Update your Xbox Wireless Controller

This applies to both Xbox One/Series X|S and Xbox 360 controllers:

If the controller light is flashing and doesn’t eventually turn to a solid colour, then this means something is preventing it from connecting/powering on (it’s possible it could be all these factors and reasons so be sure to consider this and verify everything):

    1. You need to replace the batteries.

    2. It’s out of range from your console - try moving closer.

    3. It’s not synced to your specific console - try resyncing it, referring to the guides above. The re-sync should be instant but can take a few seconds.

    4. The console is off (if the controller is synced to your console, then the power supply would be disconnected, as turning on the controller automatically turns on the console).

Sometimes the light is incorrectly flashing (indicating that it’s resyncing even when it isn’t), although if the controller is working okay, then you can ignore the blinking light - you may want to restart your console if this persists.

    Hope this helps! :)
