Wireless N Router - Recommendations Wanted!

I'm using a media link 300N wireless router. I cannot get the NAT to be open no matter what I do. Spent an hour with my cable provider and an hour with Xbox support. Keeps reverting back to NAT moderate. I need some recommendations for a wireless N router
with great range compatible with xbox one. Up to $200. Open to all suggestions. I saw the list of compatible routers but which are the best? What do you use? Thanks all!

    :)

On Campus and School won't de-militarize

I guess they only restrict your connection to those on the campus, like you said. I'd suggest just getting your own router so you can make your own connection. I don't have a great recommendation, but I use Linksys E1200 Wireless-N Router Wireless router,
which gets the job done. Try using a wireless connection with that, or you can even use the CAT5 cable that comes with it for a flawless connection.

Netgear WNDR 3700 is what I use. Not anywhere close to $200. Never had to mess with NAT, it is just open.

For consumer class gear netgear night Hawks are pretty nice and Asus makes some good stuff as well. I have a night hawk ac7500 I use for just an AP has a killer range and I can get 120megs down on my iPhone on wireless AC. The N is strong as well get about
    75 down on 5 and 50 down on 2.4

  7. try the netgear r6300 or the nighthawk, as big jeff said. both are pretty good.

I can't recommend the nighthawk x6 yet as I haven't bought it yet. hear some good and bad stuff about it. the bad? it's $300. the good? superior antenna connection and excellent range

Yea the X6 I believe should be good to go with a few firmware upgrades. It has potential but it needs some more work behind the scenes.

  9. You can try the Netgear R7000 or you can also try a router where you can use DD-WRT or open-WRT.

With DD-WRT or OPEN-WRT Routes you have a big community who can help you if you have Problems with your xbox.

Also they update their Firmware more often and you get the newest available things Wireless N Router - Recommendations Wanted! :)

For the R7000 they have a DD-WRT but it's only experimental - it's not finished.

I got a ASUS RT-68, really fast, feature rich and has a great interface. It cost me just a little over $200 but if you want to stay below $200, the RT-66 is a great alternative. I had a similar issue where the Xbox kept saying NAT type was Moderate. The
RT-68 (and RT-66) has a "Xbox Live Optimized" option in the wireless settings, I turned that on and made sure UPNP was turned on as well. I also set my cable modem (which is also a router) to a NAT type setting of bridged (this way the ASUS router does the
NAT handling). The Xbox now shows my NAT type as Open.

  12. Hey there, Chris! I'm very happy to see you want to get the community's idea on the best router! Since this isn't a support topic, and more of asking for advice, I went ahead and moved you to our General Discussion forums. The people here should be able

If wireless range is an issue you should look at a Powerline Adapter. Turns your whole house electrics into a massive Ethernet cable. Plus you can get ones that will boost your wireless signal if you need it. Amazing bit of kit.

  14. If you're willing to spend $200 dont buy a N router... buy an AC router.

Wireless AC is great but unless you have the clients to support it its a waste. Also wireless N is longer range then AC and also much more widespread. In fact you would be hard pressed to find something that don't support N. Speed is not the issue when pkaying
online it's ping time. I played the first 360 on DSL years ago and never had an issue. I was getting 3megs at the time. Like 765 up, so it's not the speed just connection quality. If you play advanced warfare or any Multiplayer games the ping or latency is
the measurement of quality. They don't care how much speed you have nor do they do a speedtest when you play online. Now it's not to say speed don't matter but ping is more important. With all that being said wireless inherently adds lag to any connection
it is nothing line a wire. But if your going to use wireless use the most reliable connection and that 2.4 wireless N. 2.4 is congested but it travels much better then 5.
