Wireless headsets have severe disconnect issues and static

Ran into this issue with a few other people. All brands of wireless headsets seem to have an issue with the new Series X controller only. X1 controllers seem to work. Basically after a few moments without any input, wireless headsets begin to stutter and skip and eventually freeze. Seems to only be “made for Xbox” type dongle-less headsets. Haven’t seen this in the “known issues” breakdown, so I hope it’s on someone’s radar at MS. Very frustrating as these headsets are usually expensive.

Turtle beach wireless stealth gen2 600 with adapter

Thank you for contact us! I'm Anderson, an Independent Consultant and a Microsoft user like you.

    good morning

There are several potential causes for the cutting and static that you are experiencing with your Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 wireless headset.

Check the battery level of the headset and the wireless adapter. If the battery is low, the headset may not be able to maintain a strong connection, which can result in cutting and static.

Make sure that the headset and the wireless adapter are within range of each other. The headset has a range of up to 30 feet, but obstacles and interference can reduce this range.

Check for any sources of interference that may be disrupting the connection between the headset and the adapter. This could include other wireless devices, such as phones or laptops, or household appliances like microwave ovens.

Try resetting the headset and the adapter. To reset the headset, turn it off and then hold down the power button for 10 seconds until the headset powers off. To reset the adapter, unplug it from the controller and then plug it back in.

If the issue persists, try using the headset with a different device or using a different wireless adapter. This can help to determine if the issue is with the headset or the adapter.

    Xbox update

The controller update has to do with the wireless chat audio adaptor and the controller itself. Fixes certain issues like disconnects or controller freezing as well as static sounds heard in the headset when using Dolby Surround setting selected under Bitframe
    for audio.

I'm going to check it again tonight since it appears I got the update, but no indication.

Created new wireless network still having issues

Do you have any wireless headsets like Turtle Beach? If so, disconnect them. If not, try a wired connection because it sounds like you're having some wireless interference issues.

    Controller firmware

If you also have some external hard drive or wireless headset attached to the console, try disconnecting it and check if the issue still persist.

For the last year or two my xbox has been disconnecting every one to two hours

    Hey there Shadow!

I'm still thinking that your router not supporting multiple consoles is a large part of the issue. However, the Turtle Beach headset could easily be another part of it. Wireless Turtle Beach headsets can often times run on the same frequency as a wireless network
and have been known to cause wireless signal interference (which results in random disconnects, exactly like you were describing).

I suggest completely disconnecting the Wireless Turtle Beach headset (even unplugging it from the power supply) and see if you still experience the same disconnect issues.

Let us know how that goes and we'll be standing by to hear from you. ^_^
