Wireless controller warranty date not matching with console warranty date

The console was purchased and registered on 12/25/24. The wireless controller came with the console, but wasn’t registered online until 6/30/25. The controller should have a 1 year warranty, same as the console. When I registered it today it said the warranty period expired 3/31/25. I have been trying to put in a service order for this controller since last week. It has stick drift; I want to get it looked at and it should be covered under the warranty to do so. I was unable to get it registered last week due to “a glitch in the system”. It wasn’t allowing the representative helping me add it nor myself. He assured me that it was going to be escalated to the next person above him because he couldn’t get it to work either. I chatted with support on 6/23/25. He told me that someone would contact me in 24-72 hours via email but I haven’t received anything from Microsoft support or Xbox about it. I tried it again today and it allowed me to register the controller but the warranty date doesn’t match up with the console date. They were not purchased separately. This is the controller that came with the console. I need to create a service order for this controller but will reconsider if it not within the warranty period. I believe the warranty date is wrong and needs to reflect the same as the console. Please let me know what I need to do to get this corrected. Thank you!

    :)

Wireless controller warranty date not matching with console warranty date

    Hello!

Hope you are well. I'll be glad to assist you.

I'm sorry you're experiencing these issues.

The controller and console warranties are separate. The controller is considered an accessory and may have a separate warranty period than the console. In some countries, the warranty period is 90 days, starting from the date of purchase. You can check the warranty terms and periods in your country here.

2 year warranty for Xbox One S -1TB

I explained what microsoft does and why the warranty on the site does not match with the real purchase date.

I know that the warranty start from the date of the purchase, but if you buy the console (or other accessories) from an external retailer and not directly from Microsoft you will probably see a registration date before the date of your purchase, this is
because after some time Microsoft automatically register the console even if it is still in a shop or in a warehouse.

When this happen the only way to have a correct registration date (and a real 2 year warranty) is to directly contact Xbox Support with a valid prof of the purchase.

    Xbox One X warranty

Normally you only get 1 year from the purchase date

I have attached a guide for you to refer to :Warranty
In the UK we get 2 years and that is what came up on registration but the dates do not match.

Xbox Controller not in warranty but console is?

I had the same issue as well. Apparently, the accessories (ie controllers/power supply) are only in warranty for 90 days from date of purchase. The console warranty doesn't carry over to the controller.

Stores must be packed with consoles!
I do not know any retailers what will exchange a console because the manufacture date is older...
Typically one has 30 days to return an item, regardless of reason. The warranty not being correct is a pretty good reason.
    I
know that the warranty starts on the date of purchase, which can be seen when you register the console...
It is not always the purchase date, as we can see below:
I just registered my console and it states that the standard warranty
runs out Feb 2013. I live in the UK and my warranty should be for 12 months not 7 months.

    Why?
It is possible the process that reports a console sold hasn't caught up, but I'd contact support and see if there's any way you can get the warranty to match the purchase date. If not, exchange it at your retailer for a console with a manufacture
    date closer to now.
