    Wireless controller cuts out if moved more than 30cm from console


    I've had my console since Day One (pre-ordered the Day One Edition from Microsoft's online store).

    The past few months I have experienced issues where the controller would lose it's connection, unless it was less than 30cms (12 inches) from the front of the console. As soon as it is moved further away the connection dropped out. Moving it closer again
    and it picks it back up again within a few seconds. I have tried the almost all troubleshooting techniques I can think of including:

    • Using a different controller
    • Using a different Kinect
    • Checking and using different sets of batteries / power packs from play n charge kits
    • Updating the console and controller firmware
    • Power-cycling the console
    • Relocating the console to another room to check for environmental factors
    At the moment I am relying on having the controller permanently plugged in using the micro USB port, however this is not an ideal solution as I have to have a cord extended dangling through the room.

    Is there anything else I can try or should I send the console for repair through the online service centre? If possible I would like to avoid this, as my housemate had to send his Kinect away and it was months before he got it back.

    Any thoughts?

    Xbox One Wireless Controllers stopped responding

    And if was an update, like affected my console, wont have a fix, I managed to get the console close, and i can use them by wireless standing the controller about 30cm from the console.

    I tried all the things possible but no luck there. What I suggest is if you have the chance to play with the usb cable is a temporary fix, if you have warranty I suggest to request a repair.

    XBOX ONE controller will not connect wirelessly

    Try the HARD RESET might work if tried more than once. Hard Reset Motion: turning power off, unplug the cord from the power adapter, wait a several minutes, re plug, and turn on console.

    No. I never have problems with my wireless.

    My router is located 30cm from the XBox, on an upper shelf. And there's nothing between them.

    ^^ Couple questions, I had something similar happen a few years back.

    1. Do you use a wireless adapter for the xbox?

    2. is the phone a cordless phone?

    if yes to both then the issue is more than likley the cordless phone is running on or close to the same frequency as the wireless network and it's causing it to cut out. try changing the channel used in the router or moving the cordless base further away
    from the xbox wireless adapter.

    and yes probation is a pain.

    The 360's is a little bit bigger than the one's on the Xbox 1. Also, I find the sticks on the Xbox 1 much more easier to move they have less resistance than the sticks on my wireless controller for my Xbox 360 slim console.

    From my experience of having both a wireless and wired aftermarket headset. I would say if you can swing it go wireless. The ones that connect to the controllers tend to cut out every time the controller vibrates heavily. I currently own a pair of Turtle
    Beach Stealth 500X wireless headphones and could not be more happier with them. Aside from having to be tethered to the controller, having to do so with wired headsets tends to run your battery down faster in your controller.
