  1. Wireless adapter synced with controller, but not working in games on Windows 7

My wireless adapter and controller works perfectly on Windows 10 Pro, but on Windows 7 Ultimate my games won't detect the controller. If I use the USB cable(wired connection) the controller works in games. I tried uninstalling and re-installing drivers repeatedly
    with no luck.

I am not the only person who experienced this, a colleague of mine tested his own controller and adapter on his system and had the exact same problem(so I doubt that it is a hardware fault).

My controller has a 3.5mm jack, so I borrowed the older Xbox One Controller(without the 3.5mm jack) and it worked perfectly on Windows 7 in games!

The problem is the Windows 7 drivers are bugged/were not properly updated to support the newer controller(with 3.5mm jack).

This is frankly quite ridiculous, and I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the complete lack of support regarding this issue.

    :)

  2. Wireless Adapter for Windows and Xbox

I think the Windows wireless adapter would require the controller to be synced with the adapter before it will work, which means the sync data to the console would be changed to the computer, until you resync the console with the controller.

  3. Xbox one wireless adapter for windows 7

I'm having the same issue on Windows 7 Ultimate. I uninstalled and re-installed the drivers twice already. The controller is detected on the test page under Devices and Printers>Game Controller Settings but not in-game unless I use a direct wired connection.
On Windows 10 Pro, however, I don't have any issues with the wireless adapter. I spent a lot of money on these controllers and I am already thinking about returning them, because I have had a lot of hassles on Windows 7(with the drivers not downloading after
hours of searching and not working when it finally did download the drivers).

Xbox 360 wireless controller for windows 7

By "latest version of the adapter", you mean
    this adapter
, then this will not work with Xbox 360 controllers. This one is only designed for Xbox One controllers.

Microsoft doesn't seem to sell the 360 wireless receiver anymore, but you can
    get it here from Amazon
    .

For the 360 wireless receiver, yes, that is all you need to hook up your 360 controller to the PC. Press the sync button on both the adapter and controller, it should connect without a problem and be instantly recognized by your Windows 7 system.

    Controller Xbox One - Windows 7 x64 - Wireless

Thanks for your answer, would like it to wireless but I can handle it :)

Does all xbox one controller have an usb C port to be connected or some are wireless only ? (Sorry about all these questions but never had an xbox one controller between my hand)

And I found 2 link on microsoft website about wireless connexion here they are, but in french (i'm on phone can't find them in English) but here's the translation of interesting parts :

    https://support.xbox.com/fr-BE/xbox-on-windows/accessories/xbox-wireless-adapter-for-windows-compatibility

"The wireless adaptator for windows 10 has been made to be used on windows 10 only. The old wireless adaptator xbox for windows works on device running windows 10, windows 8.1 and windows 7. "

That's where I heard about the "old adaptator"

And I just found this link :

    https://support.xbox.com/fr-FR/xbox-on-windows/accessories/xbox-one-wireless-controller-differences-on-windows-operating-systems

This is line 1, 2 and 3 of the table :

"Fonctionality : usb wired connexion : works on windows 10 and windows 7/8.1

Fonctionality : connexion via wireless usb adaptator for windows : works on windows 10 and windows 7/8.1

Fonctionality : connexion via wireless usb adaptator for windows 10 : works on windows 10, doesn't work on windows 7."

So seems like there is 2 wireless adaptator and one of them seems to work on windows 7 but they don't precise if it's for xbow one or 360...sigh now you understand why i'm so lost, 3 versions of the controller, 2 different adaptator, many software update...I
know the best is to switch to W10 but I never had a single problem on w7 and would like to keep it as long as possible.

    Thanks again !

Xbox One controller on Win 10 Forgets the Xbox Adapter for Windows

I am seeing the same issue on Windows 10. After shutting off my PC, I have to re-sync my wireless adapter with my XboxOne controller. In fact, I have to disconnect the wireless adapter from the USB port and reconnect for it to sync up. As OP said, controller
does work fine when it is synced.

(At first I thought it was an USB port issue, but all my other devices: mouse, Steam controller, PS4 wireless headset, all work perfectly fine in the various ports.)

    Thanks
