    Wired Xbox One Controller Won't Work on PC (Windows 10)


    I recently updated to Windows 10 and connected my Xbox One controller to my laptop with a micro usb (2.0 and 3.0) but I cannot get the system to recognize my controller.

    When I go to devices, it says vjoy rather than "xbox controller" or something like that. The controller vibrates when I connect it and that's it.

    I also downloaded the 64 bit update from Microsoft for Windows 7 and 8.1 to see if that would help and it didn't. I couldn't find an update specifically for Windows 10 and I heard this was supposed to be included in a general Windows update.

    I feel like I've tried everything so help is appreciated.

    Ive bought a wired Xbox One Controller suitable for PC. the problem is that my pc with the latest windows 10. thje light on the connection cable is not active when I put the controller cable in the PC.

    Does anyone know how I can use the controller on Windows 10.

    Good evening (from Slovakia)! I want to buy an XBox 360 Wired Controller for my PC and my question is: Can I use a normal XBox Wired 360 controller (which is given to XBox 360s) on Windows 10, or I have to buy a new one specialized for Windows 10?

    Could you please double check that you have the updated/correct drivers for the Xbox One controller installed? If not, please follow the steps provided on the guide to

    Connecting Your Xbox Controller to Your PC    . If you do have the drivers installed, I would recommend removing those drivers and reinstalling them. Which brand of USB cable are you trying to use? Have you tried a different USB port on your Windows 10 PC?

    the answer is it is a wireless controller they dont work with the usb charging cable ive tried it on windows 7 and 10 you need a proper wired controller apparently.
    That's true for 360 controllers, but not Xbox One. The Xbox One controllers work wired and via wireless on PC. My wiress controllers all work fine via the micro USB cable on my PC.

    Windows 7 doesn't come with drivers built in to the OS though, they may need need to be downloaded manually if Windows update isn't picking up the controller.

    Are you sure the Xbox 360 is a wired Xbox 360 controller, and not connected by a separate cable like the play and charge cable? If it is the play and charge cable, it will not work on Windows 10, as it only charges the batteries on a PC. If it is a actual
    wired controller, then Windows 10 should detect and then download the drivers if needed.

    Hi,

    Both wired and wireless Xbox 360 controllers work on Windows 10. Wired is just plug and play while wireless controllers need a receiver. I know 360 controllers work as I've used them on my own gaming PC running the latest version of Win 10.

    Are you trying to connect a wireless Xbox 360 controller to your Windows 10 PC or is it a wired controller? If it's a wired one, here are the steps to

    calibrate your controller with your Windows PC.     You'll want to follow those steps and be sure that everything is set up correctly and try again.

    Hello there.

    Wireless controllers won't work with Windows PCs unless you have an Xbox 360 wireless adapter for PC (it's quite cheap on websites like amazon).

    If you have a WIRED controller then make sure you have the latest drivers.

    Wireless controllers + Play n Charge kit cable are not to be considered wired and will need a wireless adapter to work.
