    I know I'm not the only one to have issues trying to use a XBONE controller on Windows 7. There are several "fixes" posted online ex: Windows update/random software etc. This is what worked for me after looking for 2.5 hours and Live Chat with xbox support
    for about half an hour(that yielded no positive results.) Now I did make sure my Windows updates were up to date before trying this out, so you may want to do so as well just to make sure we're on the same page. I watched this youtube video:

    Now obviously we can't download from the x64/x86 links anymore b/c Windows supposedly fixed this issue with the Windows Update feature (which is 100% incorrect in my case). So skip that phase of the video and do the rest. Once it actually shows up as Xbox
    One Controller (instead of xbox one something metal or another), you know it's working. If after the manual update the controller icon still has the "!" next to it, just unplug and replug it in and voila! That's what worked out for me anyway. Good luck!

    I assume you are connecting your controller wired to a Windows 7 PC, correct?

    the answer is it is a wireless controller they dont work with the usb charging cable ive tried it on windows 7 and 10 you need a proper wired controller apparently.
    That's true for 360 controllers, but not Xbox One. The Xbox One controllers work wired and via wireless on PC. My wiress controllers all work fine via the micro USB cable on my PC.

    Windows 7 doesn't come with drivers built in to the OS though, they may need need to be downloaded manually if Windows update isn't picking up the controller.

    So to understand the situation you are on Windows 7 and you cannot find the driver for the Xbox controller but a Logitech controller does work when wired, is that correct?

    If so, are you trying to use an Xbox 360 controller, and have you tried it wired as well?

    Xbox One controllers have worked on the PC from the start, providing you are using Windows 7 or up. Just use a USB cable to connect and it'll be automatically detected.

    Makes it a wired controller sure but it means you can pick up original model controllers dirt cheap.
