wired xbox live disconnects

so i use a wired connection and i never lag or have party issues or anything but randomly at night(and only at night) my xbox randomly disconnects from xbox live. usually it only last for about a short time and if i reset my connection it seems to fix it
but its not my internet that is the problem because when i get disconnected my laptop still works fine and this usually happens when im playing with friends. so does anyone have any idea what the problem is if so please help this happens almost every night

X1 Desperate Help !!

I've tried both without success. Something interesting to note would be that I've just been watching twitch using smart glass to control my Xbox. When I was watching using my controller, it would disconnect from live constantly.

I have the old elite version running with wired network through a e2000 router. My internet doesn't disconnect, just xbox live.

 

Most likely its the brand of router you are using , some wont stay connected as well as others , if its a modem and router combo (gateway) that came from your isp , that's probably the issue.....you could try and reset the router to factory defaults and
see if it improves....

 

what is the brand and model ? ill look it up......

the tp link is your router but what is your modem or your first device where the internet (cable ? ) comes into your house ?

 

ARRIS model MG5225G/NA is the modem

 

That arris is also a router , or gateway.....that will cause issues using 2 routers....can you plug xbox into the first device to test ?

It doesnt matter if you have you xbox connected to the tplink.

Is this how you network is:

Arris > TP Link > Xbox

As in the tp link router is connected to the arris and then the xbox is connected to the TP link?

If so then thats why your having issues. Your xbox in this type of setup is essentially behind 2 NATs which can cause all sorts of issues including the problem your having.

You will need to google how to put your arris model gateway into "bridge mode" so that it doesnt act as a router and only acts as a modem.

so i found a video to put the arris into bridge mode but for some reason the step to change it to bridge mode doesn't work because the option to turn off the dhcp and then turn it to bridge mode it doesn't work here is the video
and the part that doesn't work starts at 0:55

 

if that arris is from your isp , they may have that option blocked and they may have to do it.....or just buy your own modem ...
