  1. Wired Xbox forcing me to Restart Router After Turning On

    Hi,

I am not sure I posted this on the appropriate category, but here it goes:

Ever since I wired my Xbox One S to my router, often times the system does NOT connect directly to the internet. It is the weirdest thing.

When I first plugged the Ethernet cable, it worked just fine, but every time I turn off the Xbox for a long period of time (e.g. from one day to another) when I turn it back on it keeps trying to "sign me in" with NO success.

When I test the internet connection, it has shown me a lot of different error messages, e.g., Teredo, DHCP error, etc. And the instruction is ALWAYS to turn off the router for 30 seconds and then reboot it, which is what I've been doing every time it happens,
but it is NOT a definitive solution.

Does anyone know what the problem might be? I used to have a static IP assigned to the Xbox, but I put back on Automatic to see if the problem would fix, but it didn't.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

p.s.: I did try to contact my internet provider, but they said that from their end everything looks fine and, in fact, if I switch to Wireless, there is no connectivity problem, but some games get laggy and I prefer Wired connection because of that.

    :)

    Xbox Streaming To Win10 problem.

Turns out if I use wire to Xbox and restart router, everything is great. And if I use slower WiFi connection on Xbox, the reliability is better. Using 5G on both Xbox and SP4 seems to have bad result on my setup.

    Can't get smartglass to connect

You can try turning off then turning on your router connection. You can also restart both the Xbox One and the iPad. Sometimes, the app might not sync with the Xbox One, so you'll have to restart them. If you have a different internet connection, try using that as well.

Wired Xbox forcing me to Restart Router After Turning On

The Xbox is dependent upon the router to provide it an IP address and to allow the Xbox to go online.

"When I test the internet connection, it has shown me a lot of different error messages, e.g., Teredo, DHCP error, etc."

    - It means that the router is not communicating with the Xbox

Here's a few things to try.

Hard reset the Xbox by holding down the power button on the front of the Xbox for 15 seconds. After the 15 seconds let go of the power button then restart the Xbox.

    Try out your Xbox again.

If that fails, try these steps.

Power cycle your network by unplugging the power to the modem & router for about 60 seconds. Then plug your router back in and try your game again.

Go to Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate MAC Address > Clear > let the Xbox Restart

    Try out your Xbox again.

If that fails, try these steps.

If you're using a wireless connection to your router.

On your Xbox go to Settings > Network > Network Settings > Forget Wireless Network

If wired connection go straight to this.

Go to Advanced settings > DNS Settings > Manual - Set the Primary DNS as 8.8.8.8 and the Secondary as 8.8.4.4

Go to Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate MAC Address > Clear > let the Xbox Restart

After the Xbox Restarts go back and reconnect to your Wireless Network and try your Xbox again.

If that fails, consider resetting your router back to defaults.

If other devices have no trouble connecting to your home network, and if it's just your Xbox One console that is having the issue, the issue is your Xbox One console or Microsoft's servers or the software Microsoft has running on your console.

Most modern modems (say.... less than 5 years old), should not have an issue. Vodafone NZ recommends only using a modem from your ISP, cause those modems are preprogrammed to work better with your ISP. That way your ISP will provide technical support, rather
than refer you to the manufacturer, which is what they'll do if you go out and buy your own 3rd party modem. My modem gives me wired and wireless 2.4/5Ghz 100mb/s download and 10mb/s upload speed.

If you find the process of following connection issue fixes, you can contact XBOX SUPPORT to help you walk you through the steps (the staff may be a bit restless after spending like 30 mins. in chat with you).

I sometimes get the teredos thingy error. Stupid Microsoft servers...

disconnecting every 5 minutes from xbox live

    Things I have tried:

    - Port forwarding

    -disabling UPnP/ reenabling

    - DMZ

    -deleting profile/clearing cache/redownloading profile

-going from wired to wireless connection, back to wired

    -restarting router

    -power cycling the router

-turning the firewall on the router off

-connecting to an entirely different internet connection and router

-changed IP on router AND xbox

i dont even know what else to do, still disconnecting from xbox live every 5-10 minutes, thought I am able to reconnect immediately after being disconnected
