Wired Xbox 360 Controller - Faulty signal on Joystick

So, I recently purchased a Wired Xbox 360 Controller for use with my PC, and until recently, it has been working very well. However, last Friday, I tried to use it in a game, and I discovered that the right joystick was having problems. So, I opened up the
game controllers application (joy.cpl) to see what was the problem, and I discovered that when centered, the right joystick now reads a right tilt of about 25-50%; when tilted fully to the left, it only reads a left tilt of 68%; and, when tilted all the way
to the right, the controller reads a right tilt of 132%! I tried to calibrate it, to see if that would fix the problem, but to no avail.

The joystick not working properly.

Are all Xbox One Controllers going to be Wireless?

Yes, but also no.

Every Xbox One controller is wireless. However, when you plug it in via USB it becomes wired and sends the signal via wire instead of wireless (while also charging batteries, if you are using the charge-pack - or in the case of your question, it's using the power via cable instead of the batteries).

This is in contrast to how Xbox 360 controllers work. X360 has both wireless and wired. An X360 wireless controller when plugged in via USB is still sending the signal wireless, but is getting power via the USB. This is why you can't plug an Xbox 360 wireless controller via USB into your computer and have it work, because the controller is still sending a wireless signal.

This makes the Xbox One controllers great for both Xbox One and PC gaming, because you don't need to buy a 'wired' controller for it to work on the PC, you can just plug it in via USB and it'll send the signal via USB instead. I'm really glad Microsoft did this.

*EDIT*: I have also tried plugging the controller into different USB ports, with no success. Also, I bought the controller brand-new 3 weeks ago, so it should still be under the manufacturer's warranty.

When you say generic joystick you mean generic xbox controller?

Those should automatically work with a windows PC Ive used both a Xbox 360 wired and Xbox one connected with a Micro USB cable to my PC and have played both Xbox One and 360 games fine with both of them. So maybe go to your local game store and purchase
a used 360 wired controller.

I recently experienced this exact same problem. (about a month ago)

Two brand new wired controllers and when plugging them into the USB slots on the front of the Xbox 360 S both showed up as Player 1.

I had 6 other wired controllers to run some tests with and eventually identified the faulty controller.

All of the other 7 wired controllers paired up as Player 1 and Player 2 except for one controller which still comes up as Player 1 no matter what we did or tried.

I eventually returned the faulty controller and they exchanged it for me.

No! Your understanding is incorrect. Let me help you. I just removed my xbox 360 wired controller and plugged it into a completely different Windows 10 machine. The driver was installed and i can now control several things with the joystick using the controller...

I am trying to disable this feature.
