WIRED/WIRELESS HYBRID Xbox 360 controller is not working on Windows 8

Hey guys, I have a Xbox 360 controller, it's the Halo 4 edition one that is actually a wireless controller that comes with a cord, you can plug the cord into the top and into your Xbox or PC via USB and it will charge it as well as act exactly like a wired
    controller while plugged in.

I have Windows 8, and I tried downloading the 64 bit Windows 7 driver, it has the Accessory Status Indicator, but when I plug in my controller, it does not register that it is plugged in on it, however, plugging it in makes the Windows sound that it's supposed
to when a device is plugged in, and the light on the cord blinks green.

In my devices, it is being registered as an unknown device, so I downloaded a driver from the list of Xbox 360 controller peripherals, it now CHARGES when plugged into my PC but is incapable of being used for PLAY and still does not register in the Accessory
    Status Indicator.

If anyone can tell me if this type of controller (Wireless/Wired hybrid) does not work with Windows 8 or PC's in general, or if there is a way to make it work, I would be incredibly grateful. Thanks!

    :)

Xbox 360 Controller does not work on my PC ?

I am guessing the controller is a wired controller as the Wireless controller with Wireless PC adapter comes with drivers on a DVD in the box which work with Windows 8 (I use them myself).

As mentioned earlier by IceStorm III, a wireless controller with a Play and Charge kit won't work as that play and charge kit only carries power to charge/run a wireless controller with your Xbox 360.

If it is indeed a wired Xbox 360 controller you are trying to use with Windows 8 you can use the Windows 7 drivers which you can download here:

@SlightJeans3. The Xbox 360 controller both wired and wireless (with a gaming receiver for the wireless pad) are compatible and work fine in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. There is no driver to download for Windows 8 as the driver is already installed and ready
to go for Windows 8 PC's and surface tablet devices.

I've been using mine this week to play the PC version of Skyrim. Not only that, but in the coming weeks the Xbox One controller will also be supported for Windows.

360 play and charge kit on PC/Windows RT

There is no controller driver to download for Windows 8 because the driver is already installed as part of the Operating System. This applies to both the Desktop version of Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 8/8.1RT for Windows Surface Tablets.

If you have a wired Xbox 360 controller, just plug it in, it will work straight away. For wireless controllers you still need a wireless gaming receiver. And yes, the receiver does work with Windows 8RT.
