Does anyone have any advise on weather it is more effective to have a headset with a microphone connected to a wired or wireless xbox 360 controller? I do understand that the wireless would have some limitations due to the batter life. thanks.

How to use the Xbox 360 Wireless Microphone

It is better to hold the microphone 0.5-3 inches (1-8 cm) from your mouth at the time of singing or speaking. Don’t blow into the microphone or tap directly on the microphone windscreen.

It is possible to use up to two wired or wireless controllers together with the microphones. You cannot use a microphone if a wired headset is connected to your console. But the Xbox 360 Wireless Microphone doesn’t interfere with any other wired or wireless Xbox 360 accessories.

    The Microphone indicator lights

You can easily understand your microphone status from the built in lights shining.

    • If the lights flash green one time every second, it indicates that the power is on.
    • If the lights flash green four times every second, it indicates that the microphone is connecting.
    • If the lights flash blue and then stops, it means that the connection is completed.
    • If the lights flash green one time every second, it means that your microphone is out of the wireless range of your console.
It is also very important to understand the battery status signals.

    • If the battery of your microphone is low, the lights will flash amber one time every three seconds.
    • If the battery status is critical, the lights will flash amber one time every second.

are you using a wireless controller/headset?

I assume you use wireless controller as you say youve changed batteries.

    what about a wired controller/headset?

if its fine with wired and not through wireless control then theres something not right with the console and its wireless sync with controllers.

Hey mate, obviously everyone's opinions are purely subjective, but I've had experience with the official Xbox products, wired and wireless.

I personally don't believe it matters whether the controller is connect to a wired or wireless controller, but the headset themselves is really what it comes down to.

I still use the standard wired headsets that come with the consoles, but have also used the wireless one which I stopped because I was pretty lazy with charging it.

Anyway I suggest you make a post in one of the general discussion forums and get a wide variety of answers from the community:

    Wired versus Wireless Controllers/Headsets

I personally use the Elite Controller and I recently purchased the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 and those are amazing to say the least.

    Wired versus Wireless Controllers/Headsets

My headset is wired to my controller while my my controller is wireless. I know it will take more batteries like this but im not a competitive gamer at all.

I do have rechargeable batteries that is charged near me at all times.

    Wired versus Wireless Controllers/Headsets

For casual games I use Stand-alone speakers and one of my wireless controllers, for competitive or PVP I use a wired headset (don't ever have to worry about charging) and an Elite controller wired for zero LAT issues. Can't beat the reliability of wired
but the simple and convenience of wireless also has it's benefits.
