Wired controller stopped working after update

Thank you for contacting the Xbox Support forums. To confirm, did your controller start spamming "A" only after a recent firmware update? If so, please attempt to roll back the firmware update to see if that resolves the issue. You may do this by following the following the steps below. Keep in mind that this is typically a fix for bluetooth, but it may be worth trying if you noticed this error only after recent firmware updates.

1) Press the Xbox button to open the guide
2) Go to Profile and System > Xbox Assist > Help Topics > Console and Accessories > Controller > My controller has connection issues after the last update
3) Select Check Controller Firmware
4) From here, you should be at the controller firmware reversion screen in the Xbox Accessories app. Follow the instructions provided in the app to revert the firm ware update

If this does not resolve the issue, can you please respond with the type of controller you have? Is it an Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox 360 controller or a 3rd party brand controller?

I’ve tried all of this my controller and console are all updated. I’ve also tried another console it work but shortly after it stopped working I’ve tried the wire too. It is not the controller the paddles work fine but once I play my game with numbers binded to my paddles it makes my Xbox stop registering my paddles with binded to numbers and letters it only works when binded to buttons

The USB wire wouldn't stop the controller from working. Lots of people use those. You may just need to update the controller. That can take 10 minutes sometimes.

Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums for this issue. I'm sorry to hear that your controllers are not working as intended since the last update. It is unusual that both controllers are not responding via a wired or wireless connection but are still
lighting up.

Do you happen to have your profile or console enrolled in our Insider's program to your knowledge? If so, you may wish to

report this via the Insider's Hub or on the
Insider's subreddit page to see if they are aware or have similar issues or fixes available.

If you are not, then I would recommend trying to
connect both or either of the controllers to a Windows 10 PC to see if they are recognized and capable of use with that device. If they are, then you can check to see if they need a firmware update via the Xbox Accessories app. Following that, you can then
attempt to see if the console recognizes them. How to update your Xbox One Controller on Windows 10

Alternatively, I would also recommend a
soft factory reset of the console (keeping games & apps installed) as well to see if that update can be reapplied as something may have gone funny with it. Since the controllers aren't currently being recognized, this would definitely be something to try
after the whole PC recognition attempt.

Please bear in mind that if you're part of the Insider's program that any of the standard troubleshooting may not work as intended and, as such, reporting this to the Insider's Hub (which you can do even if not an Insider and can do also via your PC) would
be the best route to take.

Again, I have tried updating it, wired, wireless (newer controllers can be updated wirelessly), with the headset plugged in and unplugged, and nothing works. Also after recieving my replacement controller, my headset has seemed to stop working. I am thinking
it is the fault of the headset, but my replacement controller is having issues staying on with new batteries. A previous post on here said an old adapter would fix the problems, and if that is so, I would think it would be the controller having to support
the headset, not the headset supporting the controller, as it works fine on a normal wireless controller.
