    Wired controller power management problem

Okay, while this is a bit of a specific problem for me and maybe a few others, it wasn't an issue until the latest dashboard update.

While I love everything that is Xbox, and I've been a die hard since the original console, I must admit I do not like the Xbox One controller. Specifically, the changes to the analog sticks are very bothersome to me. They feel too "floaty" and a bit loose,
and as such I much prefer the Xbox 360 controller. I found the solution to my problem by way of using a third party device to allow me to connect a wired 360 controller to the Xbox One, no problem. This third party adapter only emulates controller input, and
cannot carry the voice coms. Again, no problem, I simply have the Xbox one controller with the headset plugged in sitting beside me, running in wired mode on the USB. The system worked, and I was happy.

As of the latest dashboard update however, now the power management which shuts off the controller after 15 minutes of inactivity still applies if the controller is connected via USB. So my stereo headset is constantly shutting down if I don't remember to
tap something on the controller within that time frame.

I cannot simply use mechanical means to keep a button or analog stick moved on the controller, because the game I'm playing (Destiny presently), prompts me to "Press B on the controller you want to use" if any input is detected on the second controller.

I was very thankful for the device options from the previous update, so I can assign two controllers to one profile, but this latest change is just maddening. PLEASE, add an option to turn off the auto shut off, or outright stop the controller from shutting
off if it's USB connected like it was previously.

    Thanks.

    :)

  2. 2 Wired controllers both try to be player 1, input only accepted from last controller that is plugged in

I purchased 2 brand new, wired microsoft branded xbox 360 controllers for use with my xbox 360 E console. When both are plugged in, they try to be player one, and only the last controller plugged in will work. Similar to the problem documented
I haven't gone on the buy even more controllers for testing.

    Troubleshooting steps taken.

    1. powered off the console, power it back on, with both controllers plugged in. No change.

    2. power off the console, unplug power from the console. power on the console with both controllers connected. no change.

    3. power off the console. Power on the console with no controllers plugged in. Plug controllers in after console is powered on with nothing else connected, no change.

    4. Plug controllers into different USB ports, including the ones on the back of the console, no change.

    5. With no contollers connected, power on wireless controller, it comes up as the first player controller. plug in first wired controller, it comes up as player 2. Plug in the second wired controller, it also comes up as player 2 and only the second wired
controller that was plugged in works.

    6. With no contollers connected, power on wireless controller as the first player controller. plug in first wired controller, it comes up as player 2. power off the wireless controller. plug in second wired controller, it comes up as player 2. only the
last wired controller that was plugged in works.

Each controller works by itself, so I have no reason to believe the controllers are faulty. All of the USB ports work. I have to think there is some software problem.

The light on the controller not the console. The console works just fine with my wireless.

    Wired controller power management problem

    *Update*

After playing around with this a bit more, I managed to get it to stop the behavior. I believe that the official xbox usb charge cable I have might have become damaged, as it's no longer doing it after switching cables. For the moment, I think it's safe
to disregard my previous post. I thought I thoroughly exhausted my options before I posted the first time, but changing cables occurred to me after. Oh well. Wired controller power management problem :)

Troubleshoot the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows

Please try not using the USB hub and use a direct USB to USB to your PC for the xbox one controller.

Otherwise, the warranty for the xbox one controller does not cover accidental damage. You will have to buy a new one if there's a problem here.

As for the xbox 360 controller, the play and charge kit does not make it a USB controller, that device only transfers power, not data - even though it shows up on device manager. You will need the Xbox 360 wireless receiver for windows for that to work,
or a purely wired xbox 360 controller.

As for the USB hub having issues, please uninstall it from the device manager and reboot and see if it gets the drivers reinstalled.

Wireless Xbox Controllers regularly disconnecting from PC adapter

    Hello Thomas B,

I'm Nilay and I'll be glad to answer your query today.

Please try doing the below steps:

Device Manager > Human Interface Devices > Bluetooth LE Xinput compatible input device
Right click for Properties > Power Management, uncheck Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power

The controller is in need of a firmware update, to do that via the PC download the "Xbox Accessories" app from the Microsoft Store, wire-up your controller (update via bluetooth is NOT supported) and you should get the option to update the firmware. This should fix the problem.

    Good Luck
    Regards

    Controller/Headset Question

The power cable was unplugged for ~3 hours.

None of the things listed in solution 3 are between my controller and my Xbox. I have a wired router, and it is about 10 feet to the left of my Xbox, and where I sit to play is about 6 feet in front of it.

I have used the following headsets, all with an official Microsoft wireless controller and also an official Microsoft wired controller:

    Microsoft Wired Headset

    Microsoft Wireless Bluetooth Headset

    Tritton AX720 (wired)

    Turtle Beach x32 (wired)

    Astro A40 (wired)

    Afterglow Wired Headset

There was no difference in the problem I am experiencing when using any combination of the preceding controllers and headsets.
