can anyone explain to me why its so *** slow? I prefer wired connections as they cut down on the lost connection while i'm in the middle of a game.

i'm suspecting that my Ethernet cable isn't so good for the xbox one either. do I need one with a crossover connection in the jack or something? because its driving me friggin nuts that i'm paying for a 150 Mbps connection and not getting what I want on the
    xbox one/

if anyone can help me with this, i'd appreciate the the help

    :)

Xbox one download speed is extremely slow and when I try to update games it stops sometimes.

I have this issue a lot of the time too, but I don't know why.

I have a 220 Mbps connection and can hit that speed at any time of the day in a speed test. On PSN I can get about 100 Mbps via wireless and the speed is fairly consistent. On Steam I can hit around 200 Mbps and again, it's pretty consistent. However, on
Live the speed is all over the place and never goes above 70 Mbps, but is often trickling along at 20-30 Mbps. Often the download will stop and start, or jump up to 70 Mbps for a short time, then down to sub-10 Mbps. It's all over the place.

My console is wired to the router. I've done factory resets, reset the router, tried a different socket on the router and a different Ethernet cable. Nothing makes any difference.

I have an older cat5e cable connecting my modem the r6300 and a somewhat faster cable hooking my router to the xbox one.

maybe the problem lies in the cables I 'm using? they're both running about 30 feet from the modem to the router and almost 30 ft to the xbox one from the router

  5. Does your router have gigabit Ethernet? If your ISP is a cable service, unplug the Ethernet to your router, reboot the modem and connect it to your Xbox directly. If your speed is still the same, disco the Ethernet and reboot again. Connect directly to
a computer and run a speed test at speedtest.net. you can alsotype 192.168.100.1 into your browser to check your signal levels to your modem. DS signal should be 8 to -8, dssnr needs to be above 34.5, and Up transmit should be between 40 and 50. If you
don't have these levels then speed can be impacted. I work for Comcast. If you have another ISP that's not cable related then check with them. Good luck.

  7. corran, I just printed out your response. i'm going to go over to Comcast office after work tomorrow and have a word with them. the settings I was able to see were all below what you recommended. any chance you could tell me what to say to the Comcast rep
when I show up at the office tomorrow?

70meg is superfast to most people.

Have you tried unplugging the ethernet from your xbox and plugging the same cable into your laptop and doing speedtests on that?

This would rule out problems with the cable if speed tests on laptop are faster.

Honestly though as 70meg is already superfast it could just be the xbox servers are not fast enough for 150meg. Either that or the connection between your house and the xbox servers is congested or slowed down by your isp

  9. Tell them you want a newer modem, I'm not sure where you live, but in California we have a modem called the XB3, latest and greatest.

  10. I must Chime in,

I also have 160/20 Internet service, Gigabit throughout the house.

No issues with other sites sustaining speeds above 100 mbps down...

I have never seen xbox live exceed 60ish..

Please dont ask silly questions if I rebooted my modem... Or the quality of my cables... Its FUD..

With game downloads exceeding 50GB, time to ramp up those speeds from live servers... (when they are online... looking at this month.... Odds are theyre down again)

"70meg is superfast to most people."

But most people are not all people.. as i mentioned above, with downloads exceeding 50+GB live needs to do a better job feeding that upstream.

Yep I'm not saying it shouldn't be faster but my point is as most people have less than 70meg, xbox probably haven't seen the point of making their servers faster.

I'm in a similar situation with my ps4. My internet connection is 75meg.

I get between 60 and 70meg on my xbox one using 5Ghz wireless. Probably a little more if wired.

But on my playstation I can only get half that speed wired. Between 30 and 40 meg. I get even less wireless because the ps4 is stuck in the past and doesn't support 5Ghz wifi.

So doesn't matter how fast your internet connection is if the servers aren't as fast then that extra speed is wasted. I'm not saying that how it should be though. I agree you should be getting the maximum speed your line allows but it's just that's how it
is until server speed catch up.
