    Wired Connection Difficulties

After using wireless for some time, I decided to try Powerline adapters. I read that they were more stable than wireless, which I was hoping would help with seeing other players run in place in Cod, then finding out moments later I was killed during this
time. Or even on NBA 2k15 when my player would run out of bounds while online becasue of a quick little lag spike. I'm not entirely sure going wired would fix this, but I thought it couldn't hurt to try.

Well, so much for that. I can see what my friends are up to, and I can get my detailed network statistics, but all other tests fail. It's as if I'm connected, but not really. I cannot play online. I have completely reset everything there is to reset. I don't
know what to do. The IP it gets me for automatic settings is 169.254.xx instead of trhe usual 192.168.xx which does not appear to be good. I also tried setting up a static IP to no avail.

P.S. Should I replace my Netgear WNDR3400? I don't know if it's time for a new one or if problems lie elsewhere.

    :)

Xbox Live Difficulties connecting (Wired Connection)

What Country/State/Province do you live in?

    Ireland, Galway

    Modem brand & model number:

o2 Dongle, unknown model number.....have used XBOX live with it before so it's not an issue.

    Router brand & model number:

    n/a

    Network Connection Type: Wireless/Wired

    Wired.

If Wireless, what type of encryption are you using?

    n/a

    Things you have tried:

Everything on the Xbox support website and more.

    Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/no/Unknown

    Yes.

    Is NAT Type Open?

    Yes.

    Any Error Codes you encounter:

    N/a

What type of internet do you have? Cable/DSL/T1/3G?

    3G

Who is your ISP(Internet Service Provider)?

    o2 Ireland

When you run "Test Xbox LIVE connection" what is the exact message shown on screen?

It depends. If I use Automatic Settings then the message I get it ''Can't obtain an IP address from your router or modem.'' But when I enter everything manually I get the message ''Can't connect to your network hardware using a static IP address.

Here is what I enter manually,

    IP: 192.168.0.2

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 or 255.255.255.255, neither work ><

    Gateway: 122.168.0.1

    DNS: 122.168.0.1

I just got another Xbox today after being away for a few months and it just won't seem to work.....can anyone help? I'll give any info required as needed. Wired Connection Difficulties :)

I think it's my computer settings that are wrong but I never have to go near the ''Network and Sharing Center'' so when it comes to setting it up for an XBOX I'm totally confused Wired Connection Difficulties :(

    Can anyone help?

I'm on Windows Vista and I've tried everything so far, like I said above I'm fairly confident that I've done something wrong on the computer end and it's a matter of fixing that to connect...I just need to know what needs to be done as I've been on all
the Microsoft support sites and nothing has worked

    Thanks for reading.

Oh and also, since I doubt much has changed, story time!

    --

A while back I made a thread because I was having network issues. After a couple months of little help, I remember getting an email that someone replied to my thread.

The reply said, to another user: "I'm sorry to hear about the issue. Since this thread is a bit old and the original poster most likely has been resolved, I would suggest creating a new thread detailing what you're experiencing. This way you can receive
support on a more individual basis from our community. Thanks!"

This is nonsense. I don't know what led you to believe that anything was resolved, Miss Diggz. There was nothing in that thread that showed any sign of being able to fix anything.

I meant to reply in the moment but at the time I was away from home and had a subpar Windows Phone, and was not able to use it to reply. By the time I got home I had gotten over it, and let it go. But in light of more networking issues now on my Xbone, I
feel the need to bring this up because I am a bit petty, and after hours of searching the internet and coming across several xbox forums pages, I began to see a pattern.

People are just told to fill out a little form of sorts, describing their problem. Other people with the same issue respond, looking for the answer to the problem. The responses do not help, they just tell those people to make their own threads where they
too will get no help. It is similar to when a mess is made on the floor, and instead of cleaning it up, it is just spread out so it isn't as noticeable.

I just want to relax and play games. I cannot do that. Instead, I am taking a break from pointless internet research to write this on a Friday night. I am sad.
