Windows Xbox app sign in not working.

The Windows Xbox app is launching correctly but when I hit the sign in button it either flashes the window white and returns to an un-logged in home screen, or just doesnt do anything at all. I have tried this from all the various sign in buttons I can find via settings etc. I have tried all of the suggested fixes I have found on other posts including:

Uninstalling/Reinstalling the Xbox app

Resetting the Xbox app via the Apps & Features settings in Windows

Signing into the Xbox Companion app then launching the Xbox app

Restarting my PC

As well as this I have also checked the following:

Date/Time is set automatically

I can log into other built in Microsoft apps such as the Store

I have no internet proxy set

I have logged into the Xbox site and there is nothing to say there is any sort of issue with my account

I cannot remove the account I would like to use and re add it as I am using it as my primary account attached to my PC so there is no option under Accounts in the Windows settings.

Some other key information:

This app worked last time I tried playing a game a few weeks ago

I have games installed.

I have an active Xbox game pass subscription

There is no error message or anything being shown to me

My Microsoft account is showing under 'Store Account', but just won't sign in under 'Microsoft Account'

This is an annoying problem to have as there is no feedback from the UI as to what has gone wrong, and on top of that the Microsoft support says that for the issue Im facing I can't use a web chat, and that I can either view the status of Xbox or use the virtual chat, of which none of the answers apply to my situation. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this could be happening?

Oh, I also just tried signing out of both the Windows Store app & the Xbox app then signing back in. Did not work.

So I've managed to get it working, though I'm not sure if it was a fluke. In case it helps anyone else, mine managed to log in when I set it to start on startup and then restarted. Hope that helps.

You will have to sign out completely then try and sign in with the other account. If that don't work than remove account completely from the Xbox App and then re-add it to the app.

because signing into the xbox app also requires the microsoft store and gamebar to use the same account or it will not work, the xbox app uses the store for purchases and downloads. if you don't want to sign into the other parts of windows then you cannot use the xbox app.

don't forget, windows is free and basically not an OS like old, it is now a service and you have to agree to the terms to use such service.

Have you tried reinstalling the Xbox app? If none of those options work, select the Start button > Settings > Accounts , then find the Microsoft account you used to sign in to the Xbox app and select Remove.
