Windows not detecting games on External HDD

    Hello,

Recently I had to reset my PC, I have games on My External Drive but the Xbox app is not detecting it, I can't delete the WindowsApp Folder and Formatting the drive will force me to have to reinstall games on other Gaming Platforms (Steam, Epic Games etc.)

    :)

Thank you for contact us! I'm Anderson, an Independent Consultant and a Microsoft user like you.

    good night

there is no other way if you don't format the external hd drive, it won't recognize your files, it only recognizes games installed directly by it, with the restoration it doesn't have the installation files that are located in the windows folder, and there is no way to add them manually.

After some consideration I have decided to just format the drive and go from there, Thank you for all the Comments! (The changing of the WindowsApps permissions was not working for some unknown reason)

he does not need to format the drive. just change the permissions on the windowsapp folder on that drive so he can delete it then redownload the xbox app games.

resetting windows or re installing renders all xbox app games inoperable as the folder is encrypted to that one install of windows.

you have to re download all the xbox app games again.

go setting, storage, location and change it to that drive this should then state there is a folder there and it will be removed.

if not google remove windows app folder from drive as you have to take ownership to remove it.

    I NEED HELP

First let's double check that the external HDD works. Try to connect to a PC. If the PC detects the HDD, format the HDD.

The plug to your console to see it detects the HDD apply the Xbox Format again.

    Hope that works!

    Regards!
