Windows Minecraft SHOULD BE Open to Modding

Hello all,

Not sure if this is the right place to post such an idea, but here goes:

Lately, I've been playing a lot of Minecraft with my friends (we are all either college students or barely graduated working people with little to no extra cash flow), and we've played both the Windows 10 Edition, and the "normal" java-based Minecraft.
In particular, we've been playing the Hexxit mod through the Technic launcher. The more I've been playing this with my friends, the more I've been wondering,
why hasn't Windows 10 Minecraft done something like this yet?

Don't get me wrong - I appreciate a lot of the great updates and new content that has been put into the Windows 10 Minecraft. However, I miss that feeling of having the freedom to download, use, and/or create mods for Minecraft. I know they have "texture"
and "behavior" backs for sale for real money, but that just doesn't seem the same (and as I mentioned before, in my current situation in life, I'm pretty broke). Will they ever add this into the Windows 10/pocket edition of Minecraft? Did I miss them releasing
some stupid statement saying that they won't? I just really think it would get back to the roots of Minecraft because the modifcation ability, in my honest opinion, is part of what made Minecraft great.

Thoughts? Concerns? Thanks for reading my rant with it's little side tangents!

Hi Rodrigo,

We understand it can be frustrating when trying to find the path of the Windows 10 edition Minecraft executable.

I recommend bringing up the start menu then doing a search for Run. Afterwards, type
%appdata% and it should show .Minecraft in a
roaming folder.

There is also the option of starting up Minecraft, on the main menu, go to mods and texture packs then open 'open texture pack'. That will open the file browser to the texture pack directory, which is a sub-directory of the .minecraft
directory.

Sign in the Microsoft Store with the old account. Then, install "Minecraft for Windows 10", it should be free. After that, sign out your old account from the Microsoft Store. Open up "Minecraft for Windows 10", then sign in with your new account. You will
get updates for free if you do the following. I hope this helps.

I agree with you: the modder community should have more incentive within Minecraft. But I also understand certain "limitations" that are placed in that situation.

 

uservoice.com should be your lead to that matter.

 

I agree with you on this OP, there's no real reason that Minecraft shouldn't be open to modding. Its fantastically popular and would really benefit from everything that the modding community could throw at it. I would recommend submitting feedback directly
to MS on this matter actually as its a great idea
