Windows Media Player app for Xbone

So do i and streaming works fine.

I had to allow streaming to xbox one in windows media player then leave windows media player and the media player app on x1 running for a few minutes before it started working.

I see that you are not an Xbox Music Pass holder. If that's the case, the Xbox Music app is ad-supported without a subscription.



There is the Windows Media Player included with Windows 8 that is not an ad-supported software. You can find it from your Windows 8 Start screen by typing Windows Media Player.

Just out of curiosity I tried converted 2 albums from FLAC to WMA Lossless and they only took around 30 seconds each to complete. File sizes are comparable, but I don't really want to create another 20+ GB of media just to be able to play in lossless.. Considering
FLAC is an open codec I would imagine that Microsoft could add support for it without having to pay royalties.

No FLAC certainly is a disappointment. FLAC is the most widely used and compatible lossless format on the market. I also believe FLAC has a smaller compression size then WMA. It's pretty lame that I would have to spend many hours and waste much hard drive
space to convert my music to an unpopular format just to use it on a device. It's pretty much the same reason I will never buy another iPhone since Apple makes you use their lossless format as well.

Microsoft could add support but they won't. That's the problem with big companies like Microsoft and Apple. They want their formats to be the household name. Microsoft probably wouldn't even support MP3 if it wouldn't cause so much outrage.
