    Windows Internet Connection Sharing Issues


    I have recently moved into a college dorm in which I only have access to their WiFi network (No Ethernet Ports). The WiFi network will not allow the Xbox One to connect to that network directly.

    To get around this I have set up internet connection sharing on my Windows 10 laptop and connected the xbox to my laptop to share the WiFi connection. This worked initially for a day or 2 but has since stopped working. Whenever I plug my Ethernet cable into
    the laptop to"bridge" the connection, after a minute or 2 (throughout which the xbox live connection works) the laptop automatically disconnects from the wifi and tries to connect to the Ethernet connection as though it is plugged into a modem/router and hence
    loses all connection. I can then reconnect to the wifi but after a minute it then again tries to reconnect to the ethernet.

    I have tried to give the WiFi network priority over the ethernet through guides on the internet to change their metric value but it has been to no success.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Can't go to xbox live. VERY new customer

    You can't use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) with Windows 7 Starter.

    Tried that but it comes up with the error message "Your security protocol will not work" as soon as I try to connect to the WiFi

    I asked you earlier, but you never answered. Is your console directly connected to your router or through your computer, to share its Internet connection? I assume you connect your console to your computer and share its Internet connection, since you mentioned
    Windows firewall, in regard to your issue.
