Windows (games, apps, etc.) on home screen not responding

My Xbox will turn on completely fine, and it will get to the home screen. Once I get there, I try to select any game, app, settings, anything, by highlighting it and pressing A. It does not respond 90% of the time. I have to consistently mash the button,
usually at least ten times, before the game or app will open. Once a game or app is open, everything is fine. It is only on the home screen or when I hold the center button down to turn off my console. That screen also does not recognize my commands immediately.
I've tried the hard reboot multiple times, but it does not fix the issue. It has been going on for about three days. Any help would be appreciated.

Same has been happening to me for the past few days. I believe it's freezing. It also happens while I'm playing the witcher. It stays frozen for so long I have to reboot my system. I think it's cause of everything going on at Microsoft right now. Even the
EA vault is not responding. Very very irritating. Every week it's a different problems.

Is it only apps that cause the black screen or games as well? what about the home screen, games and apps, the store etc?

Have you checked the HDMI cable to make sure it's plugged in correctly and not damaged?

With time, who knows what will be possible, I'm sure that keyboard and mouse navigation will be supported on more games and apps as well as navigation on the home screen, settings, my games and apps, etc with time.

Thank yo for posting here on the Xbox forums. If your game won't start (when you launch it, you don’t get past the game loading screen), keeps freezing (becomes unresponsive, often with a frozen image on the screen), or crashes (quits unexpectedly back to
the desktop), you may need to troubleshoot problems with your device.

Good advice. I'd also add to that, every time I go back to the main home screen I highlight the large main window, press the menu button and select quit. I do this after exiting a game or browsing the store, or apps etc. i have had no issues with anything
since i started doing this over a month ago.
