    Windows 8 and xbox 360 wireless controller


    Hi,

    I went to install the software for the controller from this site to use the controller with my xbox games on my Windows 8 tablet but it only seems available for Windows 7.

    Does anyone know a solution to this problem or a workaround?

    Xbox 360 Controller does not work on my PC ?

    I am guessing the controller is a wired controller as the Wireless controller with Wireless PC adapter comes with drivers on a DVD in the box which work with Windows 8 (I use them myself).

    As mentioned earlier by IceStorm III, a wireless controller with a Play and Charge kit won't work as that play and charge kit only carries power to charge/run a wireless controller with your Xbox 360.

    If it is indeed a wired Xbox 360 controller you are trying to use with Windows 8 you can use the Windows 7 drivers which you can download here:

    Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. The Xbox 360 wireless controller requires a gaming receiver in order to connect to a computer. The article entitled

    Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows 10     contains steps on how to set up the controller on a Windows 10, Windows 8 and Windows 7 computer. Be sure to let us know the results!

    Hi there, as per the following link it doesn't actually state a specific version of windows this is compatible with other than 'Windows XP Service Pack 2 or a later version of Windows' I can only suggest following the steps and seeing if you've missed something:

    Haha, my bad, I'll admit I didn't read through the whole article and I haven't set this up myself. I can only assume that there is no drivers for windows 8 and maybe they'll bring something out for the Xbox One controller?

    360 play and charge kit on PC/Windows RT

    There is no controller driver to download for Windows 8 because the driver is already installed as part of the Operating System. This applies to both the Desktop version of Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 8/8.1RT for Windows Surface Tablets.

    If you have a wired Xbox 360 controller, just plug it in, it will work straight away. For wireless controllers you still need a wireless gaming receiver. And yes, the receiver does work with Windows 8RT.

    @SlightJeans3. The Xbox 360 controller both wired and wireless (with a gaming receiver for the wireless pad) are compatible and work fine in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. There is no driver to download for Windows 8 as the driver is already installed and ready
    to go for Windows 8 PC's and surface tablet devices.

    I've been using mine this week to play the PC version of Skyrim. Not only that, but in the coming weeks the Xbox One controller will also be supported for Windows.
