    Windows 8 Achievements Not Synchronising


    Hello! The other day, I loaded up some of the Windows 8 games I have in my library for unlocking achievements. However, not every Windows 8 game unlocks achievements and connects with the Xbox servers, despite the games claiming to be online with my profile. It's an issue that has been occurring since about July last year. For example:

    Early Windows 8 games such as Reckless Racing Ultimate and Endless Skater (both games can still be purchased and downloaded from the Microsoft Store) won't show previously unlocked achievements in the past (even those before the servers broke back in July) and still don't unlock achievements that will connect with the Xbox servers. These also include the Microsoft Casual Games on Windows 8 (these versions are no longer supported since then but can still unlock achievements).

    However, later Windows 8 games such as Tiny Troopers and Touchdown Hero: New Season (both games are still available) use a different kind of server and file structure for connecting with Xbox servers to synchronise achievements. Players can still unlock achievements in them currently. Both Halo games on Windows 8 (that are available on PC Game Pass) use this structure.

    With that being said, the outage in July must've caused something in the early games' servers to be left unfixed, while the other system for later games ended up only being fixed. When I was testing the games, I made sure that I was connected to the Internet and signed into Xbox (played Windows 8 games before without any issues until now).     Solution 2: Check your achievement progress online

    You can check the progress of your achievement online to verify that your console has synchronised with Xbox Live.

    To view your achievements online:

    1.Sign in at xbox.com and select Achievements.

    2.Select the title of the achievement you're trying to unlock.

    3.If the achievement appears under “Achievements,” it's already unlocked.

    If the achievement appears under “Locked Achievements,” either the console isn't yet synchronised with Xbox Live or the achievement was not successfully unlocked.

    They are two different games.. the one with 3 achievements is the Windows 8 version.. the one with 20 achievements for 200 points is the Windows Phone 8 version.

    When unlocking an achievement, please be guided with the details from this page which will surely help:

    When you unlock an achievement, there might be no immediate notification about it. It is because the Xbox service validates your achievement first, which causes a short delay.

    To check your achievements on a Windows PC, please open the game you want to check achievements for, then press Windows key + G to open the Xbox Game Bar, and navigate to the "Achievements" section within the widget menu. this will display your progress on achievements for the currently active game.

    To give you a heads up, if there is a delay with the unlocking of your achievement it is because it's not yet synchronised with the Xbox network.

    Please give it up to 72 hours for this synchronisation to take place.

    Thank you for the update. Kindly check your progress online by following the steps below:

    1. Sign in at Xbox.com.

    2. Select your profile icon in the upper-right corner, and then select Xbox profile > Achievements.

    3. Select the title of the achievement that you're trying to unlock.

    4. If the achievement appears under Achievements, it's already unlocked.

    If the achievement appears under “Locked Achievements,” either the achievement was not successfully unlocked, or the console hasn’t synchronised with the Xbox network. Allow up to 72 hours for this synchronisation to take place. If it hasn't appeared after 72 hours, try unlocking the achievement again.
